Legal Councel *LI-MB1
Location: Dublin 

ICON plc, a leading CRO employing 12,000+ people across 89 offices in 37 countries, seeks a highly motivated, compliance Legal Councel to join the Legal Department at its Leopardstown Global HQ. 

The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail as the roles primary purpose will be to provide advice to ICON’s business globally regarding corporate compliance and legal risk management; as well as a broad range of legal regulatory requirements.

Job Functions / Role responsibilities: 
  • Advise on third party due diligence and integrity risks, corporate compliance assessments and general corporate risk. 
  • Advise on anti-corruption, regulatory and other compliance aspects of ICON’s global contractual engagements.
  • Advise on regulatory / compliance audits or investigations.
  • Assist in designing and implementing appropriate governance arrangements and controls; and management reporting to enable appropriate oversight of risk and compliance.
  • Define and interpret ICON’s regulatory requirements and advise on managing their impact on operations and to effectively embed change across functions and business units in compliance with these requirements.
  • Monitor legal regulatory developments and provide updates as required to the internal business.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of existing compliance frameworks and benchmarking compliance arrangements against established industry best practice.
  • Join internal ICON taskforces to advise on regulatory and compliance related Standard Operating Procedures, Business Practices and related training.
  • Support on-going development of effective compliance training and communication programs.
  • Attending meetings with clients and vendors regarding regulatory and corporate compliance matters.
  • Advise on client RFIs and due diligence questionnaires / certifications.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Attention to detail – with strong legal experience in a broad range of regulatory law / corporate compliance requirements. 
  • Commercial/contracts experience in high paced environment.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work to very tight deadlines.
  • Ability to close out team tasks and projects efficiently and decisively.
  • Self-starter, who can work independently.
  • Extremely organized and focused with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English.
  • In-House / advisory services legal experience supporting a corporate compliance management function would be a distinct advantage.
  • Track record of advising on implementation of regulatory requirements throughout an organisation.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Qualified lawyer with 1-3 yrs PQE.
