Operations Engineer II

Senior Linux Administrators/Engineers

ICON is expanding its Linux team in Chennai and looking for 2 Senior Linux Admin/Engineers.

You will be joining  a small team based across Chennai, US and Europe. This team  manages a diverse range of linux based customer portals, applications, and data delivery services.

You will be responsible for production, non-production, and project support for all Linux and Unix systems.  We are in the process of building the capabilities to move to a devops model , and this is a great opportunity to re-shape and define our automation, configuration management and monitoring processes.

We are particularly interested in these skills;

-          Excellent working knowledge of Redhat/Centos Linux  both as an administrator and user/developer

-          Good scripting skills  and knowledge of Linux/Unix utilities

-          Good understanding of  VMware, large scale SANs, and IP/TCP networking

-          Large  scale Configuration management and automation - experience in a devops environment an advantage

Responsibilities of the Role

•        Responsible for the architecture, installation, performance, support  and security of a large estate of Virtual Linux servers.  There are also a number of legacy Solaris Servers.

•        Troubleshoot performance, functional and availability problems. Works closely with infrastructure, middleware admins, dba, developers and business analysts to ensure the success and agility of ICON’s services.

•        Pursues continuous improvement and automation at all times, to provide the highest possible standards around our data delivery, system quality, and availability.

Skills and Experience

•        Experience working in 24/7 fast-paced environments. Comfortable working in a number of roles at the same time - as a production admin ,  supporting and troubleshooting a diverse range of technologies; and in a devops role working with project and innovation teams.

•        Desire to automate at every opportunity.  Experience using scripting languages and devops tools to automate the provisioning of environments, release management, and monitoring.

•        Strong troubleshooting skills across the tech-stack.

•        Good  knowledge of enterprise applications, architectures and devops practices

•        Knowledge of virtual infrastructure in the context of running Linux systems.
