About the Position of Vice President, Scientific Affairs, ICON Laboratory Services

ICON Laboratory Services is seeking an experienced leader with expertise in laboratory sciences and clinical drug development to guide ongoing investment in analytical platforms, technical capabilities, test menus and biomarker services to meet the needs of pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies around the world.

As Vice President, Scientific Affairs, ICON Laboratory Services, you will develop our “capabilities roadmap”, coordinate and develop scientific relationships between research sponsors and ICON subject-matter experts, raise the scientific profile of ICON Labs within the drug development community and support our commercial teams in the development and expansion of sponsor relationships

This role forms part of the senior leadership team for ICON Laboratory Services, with responsibility across our global network of GCP central laboratories, GLP bioanalytical laboratories, and custom assay development groups

The VP will provide overall leadership and direction to drive superior performance in laboratory delivery. This will involve building strong business relationships and working closely with other service line leadership teams and subject matter experts

To Succeed You Will Need

You will need A PhD degree in laboratory science discipline relevant to oncology drug development or a MD with PhD. Target disciplines could include Immuno-Oncology and Genetics. At least 10 years of experience in clinical drug development and a minimum of 5 years of experience managing laboratory operations either single locations with multiple lab departments or across multiple locations.

Must have prior experience in developing strategic business plans and financial models that can grow a business and demonstrate successful experience in developing a business organization and have the ability to manage the overall P&L performance to drive profits.

Must have people management experience with demonstrated strength in managing and leading a team of diverse professionals, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, preferably practiced in an international clinical research environment, ability to liaise and work well with professionals across departments/functions at all levels, experienced in making presentations at conferences, client meetings and training sessions, good understanding and experience in applying IT solutions in business operations as well as process management, business process analytics and continuous improvement and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required.

Strong  familiarity with GCP and/or GLP.
