Job Responsibilities:

Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to investigate and understand data sources, system capabilities, quality constraints and transformation requirements for the purposes of building business intelligence solutions that support operational and clinical research decision making.
Use the most appropriate data modelling principles and tools to design consistent and scalable data delivery solutions, potentially from source systems through to the presentation layer, and participate in the development and maintenance of master data models, enterprise data models and metadata management.
Monitor and be aware of trends in technology and business practice in the pharmaceutical industry, and provide advice and recommendations on emerging IT trends, particularly in the field of informatics.
Provide expertise to the user community to improve their knowledge and understanding of informatics, and act as an agent of innovative change.
Work alongside product managers to provide analytics algorithms that extract data patterns and meaning from large and varied data sources, powering a suite of service propositions that deliver maximum customer value for minimum cost.
Support the creation of new business and clinical informatics opportunities by exploring statistical modelling methods, data mining methodologies, big data technologies and advanced analytics techniques such as graph theory and Bayesian analysis.
Communicate complex ideas effectively to global clients and project teams, managers and the senior leadership team, enabling them to make informed decisions about the value of new informatics solutions.
Travel (approximately 20%) domestic and/or international.

Supervision

Mentor colleagues and team members on analytics and informatics skills.

Skills & Experience required

Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
Ability to perform deep and thorough analysis of complex data, draw sound conclusions, create insightful visualizations and devise actionable strategies.
Knowledge or experience in some or all of the following: predictive modelling, statistical concepts, data mining, R, SAS, python, Java, regression, graph theory, decision trees, TIBCO Spotfire and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.
Strong drive and aptitude to learn new data analysis and visualization techniques and explore the frontiers of complex data informatics.
Experience in clinical data management and scientific research.
Advanced proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL and object-oriented programming.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior executives, managers and subject matter experts.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure and work independently with minimal direction and guidance from project leads, consultant staff and managers.
Adept at using negotiation, facilitation and presentation techniques to build consensus, and skilled at communicating difficult and sensitive information tactfully.
Professional and personable approach combined with flexibility, creativity and energy in taking initiatives and assuming responsibility.
Verbal and written communication expertise and excellent presentation skills.
Self-starter willing and able to wear many hats and work at all levels of detail to gets things done.
Highly collaborative, pragmatic and diplomatic.

Education Requirements

A degree-level qualification or equivalent in an analytical discipline essential.
Masters or higher degree in an analytical discipline an advantage.
