At ICON, we have an incredible opportunity for an expert Director of Innovation Delivery to join the team in our global HQ in Leopardstown, Dublin 18.

The Role

The Director of Innovation Delivery will pioneer how ICON executes clinical trials of the future by being a key member of the ICON Innovation & Informatics team as an innovation delivery subject matter expert to identify, create, capture and deliver innovation prototypes and production solutions.

• Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of ICON's consolidated innovation roadmap to deliver innovation in how we perform clinical trials.
• Own, lead and maintain the structured and formalised process for the capture of innovation ideas. This will utilise our SPARK innovation platform.
• Own and pioneer the SPARK innovation platform across ICON
• Own and run Innovation challenges on our SPARK platform across the business.
• Develop and lead the process for screening, review and evaluation of all innovation ideas.
• Lead with the Innovation & Informatics team to design, develop and launch innovation prototypes for all approved innovation initiatives.
• Identify and build innovation business cases for the proposal at IAB for the appropriate technical, commercial and business resources to pilot innovation initiatives.
• Lead the process for the periodic technical and commercial evaluation of innovation projects.
• Participate on the innovation board of industry experts responsible for informing and evaluating ICON's innovation strategy.
• Own the innovation project portfolio management and the associated reporting obligations relating to innovation initiatives.
• Work with the innovation team when interacting with relevant third parties involved in the funding and development of relevant innovation initiatives.
• Participate in ICON's relationship with 3rd party innovation partners (academia, industry initiatives, etc.).
• Participation in the process to transfer approved projects from innovation centre into the business.
• Ensure innovation project initiative budgets are tracked and managed to meet agreed targets.
• Promote a culture of innovation. Continuously seek opportunities for improvement within role, processes, team and the IT organisation as a whole.
• Facilitate and support the innovation components of business development initiatives as required.
• Work with the Innovation team to establish and deliver the IT and Innovation strategy.

What you need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or Engineering or equivalent work experience required
• 10+ years of program delivery and portfolio management leadership and operational experience in the CRO industry or supporting industry.
• Proven ability to develop initiative business cases, initiative program schedules and the delivery of the innovation initiatives.
• Ability to articulate effectively to audience of different backgrounds (commercial, technical).
• Proven record of accomplishment in delivery of business needs using out-sourced and in-sourced global business models.
• Proven ability to participate in the successful deliver large scale programmes of IT change on time and within budget.
• Possess process improvement experience with a focus on continued streamlining of processes.
• Possess customer-focused background and display commercial awareness.
• Ability to embrace new and innovative technologies for the benefit of the organisation.
• Ability to present strategies and change initiatives (to technical or non-technical audiences) to secure approval and funding.
• Possess strong interpersonal, relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong ability to establish strong internal and external relationships to facilitate the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.
• Highly self-motivated and able to work effectively with different divisions and levels.
