Divisional Principal, Global Medical Communications
Position Profile Summary:
- Responsible for the overall performance of Global Medical Communications
- Deliver services against key ICO metrics (sales, productivity, financial P&L) to enable ICON to achieve global growth and an outstanding reputation in the marketplace
- Supports the Executive Vice President to set and drive the strategic direction for the business while leading the Global Medical Communications team to achieve and exceed established goals
- Subject matter expert in global functions of Medical Communications
Job Description:
- Lead all operations of Global Medical Communications and create strategies for growth that align with the overall ICO strategy
- Responsible for the Global Medical Communications P&L
- Build and lead an effective management team and create an environment that supports cross-function service line collaboration to grow strategic and programmatic customer engagements
- Assess market needs and align internal functions to provide immediate solutions
- Develop strong internal and external customer relationships to facilitate cross-ICO collaboration and improve win rates
- Promote an environment that encourages open communication, diversity, respect and allows for the professional development growth of Global Medical Communications team members
- Develop clear metrics by which individuals are objectively measured and evaluated
- Provide internal strategic guidance on an integrated ACC commercial offering and train the Global Medical Communications team to translate service integration into sales growth
- Lead sales strategies and account planning to identify new clients
- Represent Global Medical Communications in front of key clients and work closely with ICO Business Development to support the global growth
- Develop key relationships with customers
- Implement internal delivery processes that allow for effective and efficient development of client work product and is scalable for growth
- Work with centralized business partners in HR, TA, Finance, Legal, IT, Learning and others, as required, to support Global Medical Communications
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in all areas of Global Medical Communications, and advance an environment that encourages the creation of new client solutions
- Provide strategic contribution for Global Medical Communications and ICO growth as part of annual strategic planning requirements
Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Education Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in Global Medical Communications
- Combination of global industry (biopharmaceutical) and service (consulting, agency, med comm) experience
- Demonstratable experience in conducting Global Medical Communications functions, at an advanced level, resulting in strategies and work product that results in a brand achieving commercial success
- Demonstratable experience in people management, business development, operations and financial management
- Previous experience working in a large service organization, publicly traded organization preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences or related discipline; professional or advanced degree preferred
