The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for supporting and facilitating strategic IT change in ICON by using and developing enterprise architecture to gain the maximum value for the business while minimising disruptive impacts. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Build a holistic view of the organization's strategy, goals, processes, information and information technology assets, take this knowledge and ensure that the business and IT are in alignment and strategies for both cohesively enable and drive each other
  • Develop the Enterprise architecture for the next 3-5 years for ICON that shows how the current and future needs of ICON will be met through future IT investment. Ensuring this investment can be made in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner that enables ICON to achieve agreed strategic objectives through information technology.
  • Define, validate and communicate architecture principles and standards for information and information technology assets.
  • Promotion of shared information technology assets which reduce costs and improve ICON business capability and information flows. Ensure that projects and IT solutions leverage common functionality and align with business and IT strategies.
  • Liaise with business and IT stakeholders in defining and validating business/ information/ data/ application/ infrastructure/security architecture.
  • Work with solutions architect(s) to provide a consensus based enterprise solution that is scalable, adaptable and can meet ever changing business needs.
  • Lead the assessment and communication of the impacts, trade-offs, risks, costs, benefits and opportunities of IT solutions from an enterprise architect perspective.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of Information Technology within ICON in alignment with othee IT functions.
  • Liaise with IT senior management team as part of the architecture and standards approval process.
  • Keep up to date on enterprise architecture best practices and trends.
  • Manage Architecture team in the administration and delivery of architecture activities in line with the overall strategy.
  • Present the roadmaps and other strategies to the senior IT management team and be able to communicate effectively the business changes and subsequent benefits in a manner that can be understood and implemented.
  • Work with business and IT stakeholders to evaluate complex situations accurately and identify viable solutions that create successful outcomes for the customer.
  • Work effectively with internal and external clients, third party vendors and Executive Management/Senior Management in accomplishing operational and project objectives.
  • Ensure IT budgets are tracked and managed to meet agreed targets and continually work to identify areas to reduce IT costs and maximise value to the business in line with organisation objectives.
  • Establish and implement people and talent management strategies that identify, secure, develop and retain the resources required by the Architecture function.

  • As a Manager, the employee is expected to recognise the importance of and create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs. 
  • Travel (approximately 20%) domestic and/or international. 
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience in a similar role preferably in medium-to-large scale global organisation.
  • Possess deep understanding of enterprise architecture and systems development concepts and implementations.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding and implementing enterprise wide initiatives.
  • Display a strong understanding and/or experience of working in the CRO industry.
  • Proven ability to provide a strategic vision and strategies for the Architecture function as well as ensuring day-to-day operational stability.
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver large scale programmes of IT change on time and within budget.
  • Possess process improvement experience with a focus on continued streamlining of processes.
  • Possess customer focused background and display commercial awareness.
  • Proven ability to manage agile teams in a rapid growth environment.
  • Ability to identify competitive and technology usage trends, to understand their implications and to react accordingly.
  • Ability to embrace new and innovative technologies for the benefit of the organisation.
  • Ability to present strategies and change initiatives (to technical or non-technical audiences) to secure approval and funding.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts/theories for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze project, program and portfolio needs, as well as determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems that involve remote and elusive symptoms, often spanning multiple environments in a business area.
  • Knowledge of project planning and management, including scope, time and resource management
  • Possess strong interpersonal, relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong analytical capability to identify essential issues in complex technical and business problems.
  • Strong ability to establish strong internal and external relationships to facilitate the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.
