The Learning Technologist 2 will help to run learning applications at ICON PLC as part of Learning Operations and Technology. The core application is ICON’s Learning Management System (LMS), iLearn. A suite of applications will join this as part of a developing edtech strategy. You will collaborate closely with Learning and Development specialists in ICON University and team mates in the Learning Solutions team, including learning designers and media specialists, to support relevant, purposeful and engaging experiences for our community. *LI-MB1


You will have a deep understanding of applications at ICON and act as an advocate for their use. You will be creative in championing the full range of tools available and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and knowledge. You will ensure efficiency in daily routines and support a quality service. Solving complex problems by taking new perspectives making use of existing solutions. You will be creative and curious; looking to improve your own skills, remain up-to-date with the industry and bring new approaches and ideas to digital learning at ICON.


FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Updates and maintains the content and data of the LMS. This includes content management, reports and the maintenance and creation of materials
  • Supports our learning community at ICON. This includes account management and effectively resolving operational issues
  • Liaises with teams outside of ICON University , including a close working relationship with IT, business owners, SME’s and learners
  • Translates needs as expressed by non-expert staff in the business into technical and educational requirements and explains that complex information back to the business in straightforward language
  • Provides advice to the business, requiring a sound understanding of the concepts and procedures
  • Measures the effectiveness and quality of aspects of the teams work and the impacts across a range of customer, operational, project and service activities
  • Works autonomously to complete a range of atypical assignments by understanding the intent and adapting to meet that purpose
  • Champions better use of the full range of tools and applications available to L&D at ICON
  • Works within defined processes and methodologies, and proposes improvements to processes and methods based on personal observation and engagement with our stakeholders, to ensure quality standards are achieved
  • Keeps up-to-date with technology and platform developments to identify potential improvements to the digital learning experience of our community
  • May design and deliver structured training appropriate to the need and audience (e.g. workshops, one-to-one, online deliver to remote tutors, etc.).
  • May act as a lead, coordinating and facilitating the work activities of others in small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in an established e-Learning / education provider or in an appropriate dedicated function (e.g. an e-learning team)
  • Has advanced and specialised expertise supporting an LMS for course administration (e.g. course creation / management and account management) developed through considerable on-the-job experience
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and understands how related teams coordinate and collaborate to achieve quality results
  • Knowledge of related disciplines (e.g. learning design and content production)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to moderate language and message depending on audience
  • Some project management experience evidenced by an ability to manage own work, and the work of others, with an awareness of risk management
  • Experience in a testing team (e.g. UAT)
  • Familiarity with common standards and formats (e.g. HTML, SCORM, etc.)
  • Familiarity with a standard production processes and methods (e.g. storyboards, asset production, etc.)
  • Awareness of usability issues and best practice
  • Experience with CSS is an advantage
  • Awareness of mobile and responsive design (e.g. HTML5 and Bootstrap) is an advantage
  • Experience of e-learning rapid authoring tools such as Camtasia, Captivate or Articulate is an advantage
  • Comfortable interacting with senior business leaders

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in Learning Design, Visual Design, Media Production, Communications or other related area is preferred but not essential OR Equivalent experience gained in a relevant working environment
