Medical Technician I

ICON plc, a leading Clinical Research Organisation, with 14,000 employees 97 offices in 38 countries. We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated Medical Technician I to join our central laboratory in our global HQ in Dublin 18.

The Role

Do you have a Degree in Life Sciences and relevant work experience as a Medical Technician? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our central lab in Dublin.

As Medical Technician I, you will ensure that the Central Laboratory is meeting the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for performing general technical assignments and testing in the Laboratory Department in accordance with ICON’s procedures and quality standards.

Responsibilities will include:

Responsible for the quality and timelines of technical procedures, as well as their compliance with applicable company, CAP, and local regulatory agency testing requirements.
Perform technical assignments and testing including the isolation of PBMC’s, CTC slide preparation, and sample storage and issue reports in accordance with written procedures.
Maintain Corrective action logs as appropriate.
Prepare quality control documentation, instrument and equipment maintenance documentation, performance of proficiency testing and compliance with all appropriate regulatory procedures and quality requirements in testing area.
Ensuring that reagents are maintained, prepared, stored and used in a manner suitable for testing and documentation is kept to ensure adequate records are available in test area.
Performs the maintenance, calibration and validation of the instruments/assays assigned to the section according to written laboratory procedures.
Maintaining all paperwork and ensuring all records are kept up to date and stored safely as per standard operating procedures.
Respond to queries and quality issues, and participates in root cause analysis investigations as directed by laboratory management team.
Assists with the evaluation and validation of new procedures as required.
Participates in required Continuous Professional Education Programs, including conferences, internal journal club and lectures, as required.

Experience requirements:

A degree in a Life Science (Preferably Cell Biology based).
Experience working within a lab based position.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
A great teammate with super interpersonal skills.
