Senior Manager, Site Engagement - REMOTE (US)
Job Summary
The Senior SEL (Site Engagement Liaison) Lead will support SPR leadership in hyper-focusing on the company-wide goal of site and patient engagement. By developing and leading a new internal group of Site Engagement Liaisons, the Senior Manager will be responsible for building and sustaining a solution for ICON's customers that assists in contributing to the overall goal of increased enrolment in our clinical trials.
The Senior Manager will serve as the Subject Matter Expert in physician and site engagement and will work closely to ensure that there is a robust site engagement process for all ICON clinical trials. She/he will develop and manage a team of Site Engagement Liaisons whose responsibility will be to establish relationships with clinical trial investigators and research site staff to facilitate recruitment of subjects in pharmaceutical industry clinical trials for which ICON serves as the contract research organization (CRO).
This group will work in concert with ICON's clinical research associates (CRAs) and the study team to ensure that investigators and site staff have a thorough understanding of the investigational agents being used in the study, the trial's eligibility criteria, and all study procedures. Particular attention will be given to assessing the effectiveness of each site's strategy used to identify potentially eligible subjects.
The SEL must also understand how the trial fits into the site's pattern of treatment for the condition and how any competing clinical trials or upcoming drug approvals may affect the progress of recruitment. Repeated interactions will be needed over the course of the trial to ensure that the trial remains "top of mind" with investigators and staff.
This group will function as part of the study team and will interact frequently with sponsor companies and their field personnel. Furthermore, this group will serve as liaison with key investigators to help ensure that they receive prompt assistance with any queries and that any concerns they have are promptly transmitted to the trial's sponsor.

- Serves as a therapeutic expert for site engagement related recruitment strategies and mitigation
- Recognize, investigate and create new business opportunities by understanding clinical and client site recruitment needs on a global level.
- Responsible for direct supervision and professional development of Site Engagement Liaisons
- Contribute to the creation and presentation of proposals and budgets for new Site Engagement Liaison business opportunities
- Oversees proactive engagement with clinical team to assess and recommend targeted recruitment strategies
- Responsible for SEL resourcing and management
- Responsible for providing oversight of department development processes and systems
- Coach, monitor, asses and develop the skills and activities of Site Engagement Liaisons
- Responsible for strategize and develop best site engagement practices
- Participate in business development activities as assigned
What you will need
- 3-6 years' experience as a SEL, medical science liaison (MSL), in a CRO or sponsor company
- Read, write and speak fluent English; fluent in host country language required
- PhD in biological science or related field, or PharmD preferred but not required
- Travel (approximately 60%) domestic and/or international.
