- Provide proofreading, copyediting, and fact-checking support across a multitude of branded and unbranded materials, including promotional materials, clinical overviews, disease state reviews, and topics addressing the managed markets landscape
- Provide direction/supervision to other editors (including freelance resources) to manage the editorial process and ensure accuracy and adherence to agreed-upon specifications
- In addition to excellence in spelling, grammar/punctuation/usage, check for sense and consistency in text and formatting; fact-check and edit annotations for text, graphs, charts, and other visual elements per sources
- Obtain permissions from publishers and/or authors as needed
- Complete account-related agency training as needed to assist in electronic submission and referencing
- Manage submission processes for client’s medical/legal/regulatory review
- Create, maintain and distribute client-specific style guides; ensure all pieces conform to AMA and client style
- Bring promotional copy into compliance with FDA regulations, client and other criteria, as needed
- Maintain a high level of productivity with minimal supervision
- Develop dialog and maintain productive working relationships with project managers, copywriters, designers, and account team on content and scheduling issues regarding workflow to achieve project goals; advocate for best editorial practices
- Work closely with writers to resolve content/referencing issues
- Serve as a resource for editorial questions
- Attend project, editorial, and status meetings
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical editor
- Experience in a pharmaceutical agency or pharmaceutical company
- Ability to interpret scientific data and a working knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with Medical/Legal/Regulatory review committees at pharmaceutical companies
- Well-versed in the American Medical Association Manual of Style
- Natural inclination toward being a stickler for accuracy and perfection with relentless attention to detail
- Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
