Part Time, Can include Weekends

POSITION SUMMARY

 Under general supervision, the Laboratory Assistant in the safety lab provides administrative support to the Laboratory.  The Laboratory Assistant organizes protocol documents in study-specific binders to include lab requisitions, study specific logs, and shipping documents.  The Laboratory Assistant is the primary contact for ordering supplies for the PK and safety labs.  The Laboratory Assistant in the PK lab is responsible for the specimen processing, storing and shipment of PK/PD samples

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

·Safety Laboratory Assistant:

·Responsible for the organization and maintenance of each study-specific binder

·Responsible for the ordering of requested supplies for the PK lab and safety lab

·Maintains a clean and efficient work area.

·Exhibit flexibility and adaptability in dealing with unexpected circumstances that may occur.

·Provides responsive customer service

·Demonstrates the ability to work well with others and fosters a collaborative team environment.

·Distributes Quest reports to the appropriate area.  Investigates issues/problems with Quest testing.

·Communicates effectively with Laboratory Manager.

·PK Laboratory Assistant

·Labels and organizes protocol-specific tubes for PK/PD samples.

·Follows and documents all study-specific sample processing instructions.

·Stores PK/PD samples at the appropriate temperatures, as defined by each protocol.

·Packages and ships samples following IATA guidelines and protocol instructions.

·Communicates effectively with the PK supervisor and Laboratory Manager.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

-Previous experience of working in a laboratory setting eg academic, hospital, CRO experience.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

·High School diploma or GED; familiarization with basic laboratory operations preferred.
