This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast paced, busy environment for a leading global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. The Manager, Patient Recruitment Planning will play a key role within ICON’s Patient Recruitment services which specializes in instituting novel solutions to better identify, match, and engage patients for clinical trial participation.
About the Manager, Patient Recruitment Planning role within ICON:
Manager, Patient Recruitment Planning will act as the technical expert in Patient Recruitment and Retention Planning process for internal and external customers alike and to provide strategic input to Business Development, Clinical Operations and to Sponsors.
Lead and manage awarded Patient Recruitment and Retention studies by being accountable for the development of Patient Recruitment and Retention tactics and strategies appropriate to the individual study needs and in align with sponsor requirements and for the handover of these tactics / strategies to the Clinical team for execution at a stage appropriate for the individual study. To work with clinical teams to ensure lesson learnt are documented and case studies developed.
Lead and manage patient recruitment vendor engagement and budget development for service areas provided by the Patient Recruitment Planning group for both pre-award and awarded projects alike and ensuring that strategies align with the overall ICON strategy. In awarded projects to handover the management of the vendors to the clinical team at a time point appropriate to the complexity of the study and within the budget. To keep abreast of current trends within the patient recruitment and retention and to actively identify and engage new and niche vendors as appropriate to maintaining ICON’s competiveness.
Offer assistance and mentoring to team members to create a supportive working environment, developing effective working relationships with the team to enable an atmosphere of motivation, creativity and innovation whilst providing opportunities for future grown and career development within the team and lead by example and set high standards that others will follow.

To succeed you will need:
You will possess a Bachelor’s degree, or local equivalent, in a life-science, scientific discipline, medical and / or communication or business studies. A higher level degree is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years industry experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in recruitment planning in addition to a minimum of 2 years’ experience across a broad range of therapeutic areas as a manager and / or project manager, excellent communicator, both in written and spoken language, able to produce reports and project plans to a high standard in addition to being able to review the quality and content of reports produced by the Recruitment planning Team.
Well-developed negotiation skills with the ability to liaise successfully with senior management, clinical project teams, and other ICON departments and clients, as well as to influence and present to both small and large groups. Must have competent computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, highly developed organizational, problem solving and analytical skill, with the ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks and work independently, and to make decision and to progress projects.
Fluent in English is essential.
