Job Description Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced CLIA and CAP certified laboratory for a leading global provider of outsourced services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. Our Laboratory Assistants support the technical staff and fundamental clinical laboratory processes that contribute to the overall success of our lab and organization.
Duties of the Laboratory Assistant include:
- Recognizing, exemplifying, and adhering to ICON's core values which center on our commitment to people, clients, and performance.
- Embracing and contributing to our company culture with a focus on supporting the molecular testing lab.
- Logging laboratory sample receipt, organizing samples by extraction type and due date, performing sample management tasks within our LIMS system.
- Responsibility for clinical sample storage in accordance with current written procedures and on-the-job training practices.
- Conducting routine quality control checks on equipment (e.g. record temperatures) and reporting unusual findings to supervisor.
- Performs daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks as outlined in ICONS SOPs.
- Ordering, sorting, organizing, and storage of lab supplies.
- Writing incoming specifications for new consumables
- Ensuring incoming reagents are stored at proper temperature and location.
- Completing all paperwork and maintaining quality records in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.
- Adhering to all written internal and external quality control procedures.
- Maintaining a “Own It” mentality by recognizing and acknowledging mistakes with an emphasis on immediately bringing any suspected issue to laboratory management’s attention.
- Recognizing the importance of working with clinical specimens and maintaining a strong commitment to quality while working with efficiency.
- Performing related duties within the laboratory, as assigned.
Role Requirements
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor's Degree in the Biological/Physical sciences preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in related field or field which requires extreme attention to detail and organization is required
- Basic working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in English both written and oral.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with good organization skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
