ICON is seeking a highly motivated Senior Legal Counsel to join our team, at our Global HQ in Leopardstown, Dublin 18. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading multinational headquartered in Ireland and to be part of a large, experienced in-house legal department supporting the negotiation of commercial contracts.
The Role
As Senior Legal Counsel your primary focus will be to provide legal support and guidance to Symphony Health. Symphony Health is an ICON plc company that provides powerful data, applications, analytics and consulting to help companies gain deep insights into the pharmaceutical market and patient health journey. We are looking for a legal counsel to join our collegial global legal team with an interest in learning about data.

If you are legal counsel who thrives in a fast paced environment, has strong commercial contracts and commercial law experience and an ability to deliver practical, actionable solutions to business stakeholders, this could be the opportunity for you.
Responsibilities will include:
Advising on and negotiating a wide range of client and vendor/data acquisition commercial contracts (e.g. master and standalone services agreements, confidentiality agreements, data privacy agreements, work orders, change orders and licensing agreements)
Driving execution of these agreements in an efficient manner, partnering with internal stakeholders for input and support in such projects.
Advising internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal, corporate and compliance issues, disputes and any other legal matters that arise in the day to day operation of the business.
Managing various legal projects to completion in an efficient and effective manner and liaising with internal stakeholders in the business for input and support in such projects.
Managing and prioritizing workload in relation to timelines and client submissions.
Setting the standard for professional service at ICON, and delivering best practice in respect of risk management and service delivery for an in-house legal function.
Identifying inefficiencies in day-to-day operations and delivering on recommendations for process improvements.
Engaging and liaising with external counsel (managing and minimizing costs to the extent possible).
Undertaking other reasonably related duties (including administrative tasks) as may be assigned from time to time.
What you will need:
Flexible work hours to accommodate US business needs
Qualified as a lawyer with 3-5 years PQE
The ability to independently evaluate complex legal concepts/issues and to provide concise commercially focused solutions in simple language to the business.
A proven team player with demonstrated leadership, analytical and consultation skills.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly assess potential for risk and opportunity.
An ability to work across varying levels of seniority.
Strong interpersonal, organization and time management skills.
A self-starter with the ability to work under their own initiative with a very strong work ethic.
The ability to work under pressure and/or tight timelines in a fluid/fast-paced, highly collaborative, team environment
Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in data licensing, Privacy (date use and data security), intellectual property, commercial contracts/negotiating or work in life sciences environment.
