After more than 20 years at ICON, Carolina Boari has witnessed the organisation's growth across Latin America while building a successful career of her own. Today, as Executive Director of Clinical Operations based in São Paulo, Brazil, she leads and supports teams across the region, helping to create an environment where people can develop their careers, collaborate effectively and make a meaningful impact on patients' lives.
For Carolina, one of the most rewarding aspects of her role is working with talented colleagues across multiple countries and cultures, united by a shared commitment to delivering excellence for clients and patients.
Leading People Across LATAM
As regional leader for ICON Strategic Solutions (FSP) in Latin America, Carolina's focus is on supporting people and helping teams succeed.
"People are ICON's greatest asset," she says. "I am passionate about working with people at ICON and with our clients."
Having spent two decades with the organisation, Carolina has built strong relationships across the region and continues to learn from colleagues at every level. She credits mentors, leaders and team members throughout her career for helping shape her leadership approach.
Today, she is particularly inspired by the people she works alongside across LATAM who consistently bring fresh ideas, strong expertise and a shared commitment to making ICON both a great partner for clients and a great place to work.
Unlocking Potential Across the Region
Developing talent is a key priority for Carolina. She believes that every individual brings unique strengths to a team, and effective leadership means recognising those strengths and creating opportunities for people to grow.
Across Latin America, she works closely with managers and teams to identify development opportunities that align with employees' skills, ambitions and client needs.
"Exploring people's strengths and skills is the way I believe we get the best from a team," Carolina explains. "We have many opportunities at ICON and I am always mindful of which team member is the best fit for each opportunity and client."
This focus on development has helped create strong career pathways across the region, with many leaders progressing through multiple roles during their time at ICON.
Collaboration as a Regional Strength
Operating across multiple countries requires strong communication, knowledge sharing and teamwork. For Carolina, collaboration is one of the defining characteristics of the LATAM FSP team.
She believes collaboration creates an environment where people feel supported, learn from one another and continuously improve how they work.
"With collaboration, we feel supported, we have the opportunity to share knowledge, learn from others and bring efficiency," she says.
By fostering connections across countries and teams, Carolina believes the region benefits from diverse perspectives while maintaining a strong sense of unity and shared purpose.

Creating an environment where people can perform at their best also means supporting wellbeing and work-life balance.
As both a regional leader and former country leader, Carolina has always prioritised employee wellbeing and engagement. She believes flexibility, where possible, helps employees feel trusted, valued and empowered to do their best work.
"Creating a positive work-life balance is very important, not only for retention but also for giving people the opportunity to bring new ideas, work with a fresh mind and feel supported," she says.
This people-first approach continues to be an important part of how she leads teams across Latin America.

Carolina's own career journey is a testament to the opportunities available at ICON. After more than two decades with the organisation, she has seen countless colleagues grow from entry-level positions into leadership roles.
She points to the strong tenure within the ISS LATAM leadership team as evidence of the opportunities available for career development and progression.

Making a Difference Together
Outside of work, Carolina enjoys spending time with her family, visiting beaches and waterfalls near her home, and staying active through hiking and Olympic weightlifting. These activities help her recharge and bring fresh energy to her role.
When challenges arise, she stays motivated by the purpose behind the work.
"What motivates me on a challenging day is working for a company that makes a difference in people's health and lives."
