Bio
I have to admit that I didn’t know too much about ICON before I joined. Now, over eight years later, I couldn’t be more familiar with it! I joined originally as a Senior Accountant in 2006 and have worked in many positions since then – as a Latin America Senior Financial Analyst, as a Manager (ICR FP&A) and now a Senior Manager of a Divisional Business Unit (FP&A and Technology Business Partnering).
Prior to joining ICON, I worked in healthcare for seven years at various levels in finance, including as a General Ledger accountant, Financial Consultant, Senior Revenue Analyst and Revenue and Billing Manager. Working in healthcare gave me a good grounding in the sector. I was recommended to ICON by some friends who worked as Project Managers and as I progressed through the interview process, I began to realise that there was a strong structure in place that allowed people to learn from the experiences of others. That was a key aspect for me in my decision to join, as I value peer-to-peer development and support.
My colleagues and managers have all been very supportive and respectful over the years. They are dependable, innovative, personable and smart, as well as hard-working. Their support is demonstrated by the willingness of people to help at any given moment, which I always attempt to offer in return.
If anyone is thinking about a career in finance (and especially finance in the healthcare sector), I think ICON would make a great place to work. If you’re dedicated, honest and energetic, you’ll do really well here – there’s a host of training and financial courses available that I’ve taken advantage of myself. I’ve familiarised myself with Oracle’s Hyperion and undertaken various financial courses during yearly business partnering summit meetings and other sessions during my management training. Even after eight years, I’m still pushing myself to learn more and I’m grateful that ICON makes it so easy to access personal and professional development schemes.
