This position will focus on the relationship with and oversight of Vendors providing services to support the Global Clinical Operations (GCO). It will also drive new vendor selection initiatives. This individual will partner with senior level stakeholders within GCO and beyond (e.g. Finance, QA, legal) to ensure Vendors are achieving committed goals and service levels and to ensure new vendors are assessed per departmental processes. This individual will function as a Co-Chair for GCO-Vendor Joint Operations Committees (JOCs) by managing and driving clinical Vendor accountability with Vertex’s internal stakeholders.
The position will facilitate the development of appropriate governance for identified vendors in GCO and with other internal clients as necessary. This role will interact with key leadership and staff in all areas of GCO, as well as with other internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish and manage overall relationship with select vendors
- Establish governance with select vendors
- Monitor service level metrics and key performance indicators
- Recommend strategies and process improvements
- Support cross-functional relationships with internal clients including: GCO, Legal, Finance, and QA.
- Execute new vendor selection initiatives (aka RFI/RFPs) in accordance with departmental processes
- Negotiate Master Service Agreements (MSAs) driving toward preferred rates and favorable discounting
- Bachelor's degree is required
- 3-5+ years of experience in vendor/alliance management, project management / relationship management, new vendor selection process (RFP), or leading cross-functional work-streams within the pharmaceutical industry on either sponsor or vendor side
