Director, Medical Safety Services

Location: Chennai, India

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast paced, busy environment for a leading global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries.

Purpose of the Role

• Act as a Leader and Figurehead of the ICON India Pharmacovigilance Services, including case processing, project management, and ancillary PV services
• Drive quality, consistency, and timeliness
• Leverage your experience to suggest, plan, manage, and implement process improvements and streamlining
• Act as a key point of contact for support of APAC PV services
• Perform governance activities for the safety services of key ICON clients and/or alliance partners
• Maintain financial oversight of assigned project(s)
• Present at audits, inspections and business development opportunities
• Serve as a resource for clients and ICON personnel on safety-related issues
• Be a key member of the ICON PV leadership team reporting directly to the global head of ICON Pharmacovigilance & Safety Services

Role Requirements

• The successful candidate will have extensive relevant clinical research/pharmaceutical industry experience in pharmacovigilance/drug safety
• Must be fluent in written and verbal English with good communication and computer skills.  Detail orientated and capable of working effectively within a team environment. 
• Medical/science background and/or bachelor’s degree or local equivalent.
• Previous demonstrable experience of leading large Pharmacovigilance teams/groups required
• Previous experience of line management mandatory
• Must be available to travel occasionally (<5%)
