Director/ Senior Director Business Operations. Location: Limerick, Ireland
 
ICON is seeking an experienced Operational and People Leader for its Firecrest Solutions Team which is dedicated to transforming the clinical trial experience for sponsors, investigational sites and patients.
 
Reporting to the VP of Firecrest, the successful candidate will have significant expertise in delivering client facing projects, process design and improvement and customer care. You will have proven capabilities in People Leadership & Employee Development and be comfortable in an international business environment.
 
The successful candidate is likely to be educated to a Master’s degree level in a relevant discipline and may have achieved relevant certifications such as PMI, IPMA, Six-Sigma or have sufficient equivalent experience. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems in a Regulated Environment, IT Governance and Control best practices, ITIL practices and Software Delivery Lifecycles including Agile Methodologies would be a distinct advantage as would experience in the area of Drug Development & Clinical Trials.
 
 
Role
  • As a Director/Senior Director, the employee is expected to recognize the importance of and create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
  • Complete ownership of operational budgets associated with the operations team in Firecrest
  • Ensures projects are delivered on schedule and within cost parameters and clear visibility and reporting status is provided to senior management.
  • Put in place required operational and informational management decision support systems to establish and maintain a culture of execution and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with team members in order to maximise potential resources and leverage necessary skills to ensure Firecrest meet contractual obligations and customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Partner with senior management to develop and to achieve corporate and department goals and work with operations management and staff to achieve the established goals within the expected time frames.
  • Effectively manage risk and assess opportunities for continuous improvement. Plan and drive changes to better the performance of operations.
 
Requirements
 
  • Bachelors/Masters degree or local equivalent.
  • Prior relevant experience in senior operations role (or other applicable areas).
  • Strong analytical and business acumen skills and strong creativity skills; focused and disciplined.
  • Strong leadership background with proven ability to attract, retains, and develop talented direct reports.
  • Proven track record of success in leadership role in order to move internal teams towards achieving goals that support Firecrest’s key strategic accounts.
  • Ability to travel (approximately 15%) domestic and/or international.
  • Advanced ability to successfully manage a full workload across multiple-projects.
  • Demonstrated strength in managing Managers and leading diverse teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of stakeholder/relationship management with a client focused approach to work. Able to understand the business implications of decisions and impact on customer.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and to value the importance of teamwork.
  • Ability to set ambitious and realistic targets, drive execution and build culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
