This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast paced, busy environment for a leading global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries.
As a Laboratory Assistant will assist and aid the technical staff with handling and accounting for biological lab specimens, reagent inventory, and any other relevant tasks.
Overview of the Role
- Receives, accessions, and maintains location tracking for clinical specimens including whole blood tubes, bone marrow tubes, isolated nucleic acid (RNA and DNA), tissue blocks and slides
- Performs critical specimen management using the laboratory database system(s) in accordance with all policies and procedures
- Stores clinical specimens .
- Decontaminates laboratory equipment. May conduct routine quality control checks on equipment (e.g. record temperatures). Report unusual findings to supervisor or lead designee.
- Maintains cleanliness of the laboratory
- Managing specimens: receives/accessions/places into lab workflows/storage
- Tracking specimen non-conformities
- Assisting with reagent and laboratory supply and inventory stocks as directed
- Assisting laboratory with cleaning of lab work space and equipment
- Monitoring of temperature-sensitive equipment and water system
- Maintaining all records to ensure easy retrieval
Role Requirements
- Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the safety or health of employee or others
- Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of 3 months experience in related field or field which requires extreme attention to detail and organization is required
- Basic working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in English both written and oral.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple task with good organization skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
