Role: Legal Counsel

Location: Winston-Salem, NC

PMG Research, Inc., a leading Integrated Site Organization in the United States, seeks an ambitious and highly motivated legal counsel to join its Legal Department.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and hardworking legal counsel to join PMG’s in-house legal department to support the negotiation and execution of contracts.

PMG Research, Inc. is an integrated network of clinical research facilities with locations in Ames, IA; Champaign, IL; Cary, Charlotte, Hickory, Raleigh, Rocky Mount, Salisbury, Statesville, Wilmington and Winston-Salem, NC; Bristol and Knoxville, TN; and Charleston, SC. PMG has been conducting clinical trials since 1979, with a mission to bring clinical research as a care option to as many lives as possible in the communities we serve. PMG has conducted over 7,900 research studies for hundreds of pharmaceutical sponsors and CROs.

The Role

Join PMG’s legal team and support the mission to bring clinical research to as many lives as possible. The successful applicant will be part of a global legal team that negotiates and manages large volumes of Clinical Trial Agreements with Sponsors and CROs. A key function of the role will be to ensure that the interests of PMG are protected and risks mitigated in accordance with PMG’s requirements and expectations.

Role responsibilities include:

Negotiate and manage a high volume of Clinical Trial Agreements with Sponsors and CROs;
Ensure required language is included in Clinical Trial Agreements in accordance with PMG’s requirements and expectations;
Support key PMG team members during the contract completion process, and ensure timely execution of Clinical Trial Agreements in line with PMG goals;
Timely responses to correspondence from Sponsors/CROs with respect to Clinical Trial Agreements;
Identify variations and risks in Clinical Trial Agreements and work with the legal team and PMG to address same.

Experience & Knowledge Requirements:

Team player and relationship builder with strong interpersonal, communication, organization and time management skills;
Bachelor’s degree or paralegal degree preferred, having worked for a law firm or as in-house counsel;
A minimum of 3+ years’ commercial contract law experience, preferably including volume contract management and ideally in negotiating clinical trial and ancillary agreements;
Good understanding of the pharmaceutical/CRO industry and HIPAA issues.
Excellent attention to detail and drafting skills;
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage workload with minimal supervision;
Demonstrated computing skills (MS Office, Excel);
Excellent analytical and negotiating skills;
Motivation to further develop contract negotiation experience, and to become a leader of PMG’s legal team in the US;
Self-starter, who can work independently and make sound decisions when under pressure;
Readiness to work with an international legal team.

Education Requirements:

JD or equivalent law degree.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
