Project Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast paced, busy environment for a leading global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. This person will be responsible for assisting the Epidemiology team within the Commercialisation and Outcomes division.

Provides research support for project team members (including, but not limited to, supporting and undertaking literature reviews or background research, locating and evaluating (investigating) data sources, uploading and organizing references into reference management software, identifying and procuring relevant studies, data entry, etc.).

Serves as a resource for internal ICON Epidemiology or Health Economics personnel on projects and for department-specific needs.

Serves as a resource for outside vendors, as needed, to obtain materials and services for projects.

Formats documents and presentations (including, but not limited to, proposals, contract templates, PowerPoint presentations, training materials, protocols, questionnaires and CRF's, reports, manuscripts, posters for scientific meetings, etc.).

Edits, formats, and proofreads documents; organizes files and project folders.

Schedules study meetings, both internal and external. May include teleconferences, LiveWeb meetings, and in-office meetings. Provide logistics for in-office meetings (e.g., AV equipment, food and beverage, etc.)

Attends regular study meetings and departmental meetings, as appropriate.

Provides support for project management and budget tracking (including, but not limited to, invoicing requests and invoice tracking, filing expense reports, etc.).

Minimum required education is a High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree is preferred in Life science or Social Sciences

One or more years of experience is preferred in health care or a research environment

Intermediate skills in MS word required; advanced skills and/or certification preferred.

Intermediate skills with one or more of these applications is required: MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Publisher or reference management software (EndNote). Advanced skills and/or certification are preferred.

Strong spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.

Demonstrated ability to creatively and critically investigate research tools and data sources.

Works effectively in a complex business environment including remote staff, subcontractors and external collaborators.

Works in collaboration with internal and external colleagues to meet project objectives, timelines, and budgets.

Takes responsibility for project tasks and sees them through to successful completion.

Able to determine the multiple tasks involved in a project or assignment and prioritize their completion.

Able to adapt to changes in deadlines and changes in the nature of assignments.

Makes appropriate use of available technology and tools in seeking and implementing solutions.
