ICON plc is seeking a highly motivated, experienced commercial lawyer to join our legal team, at Global HQ in Leopardstown, Dublin 18. The Role

As Manager, Legal Counsel your primary focus will be to provide legal support and guidance to ICON's Clinical Research Services group.

• Advising on and negotiating a wide range of client commercial contracts (e.g. master services agreements, software licensing agreements, confidentiality agreements, work orders and change orders)
• Driving execution of these agreements and various legal projects in an efficient manner, partnering with internal stakeholders for input and support in such projects.
• Managing and prioritizing workload in relation to timelines and client submissions.
• Providing legal support in relation to other commercial transactions that may be undertaken by ICON, including in respect of acquisitions.
• Advising on corporate and compliance issues, disputes and any other legal matters that arise in the day to day operation of the business.
• Setting the standard for professional service at ICON, and delivering best practice in respect of risk management and service delivery for an in-house legal function.
• Identifying inefficiencies in day-to-day operations and delivering on recommendations for process improvements.
• Engaging and liaising with external counsel (managing and minimizing costs to the extent possible).
• Providing guidance and support to junior members of the team.
• Undertaking other reasonably related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

What you need

• Qualified lawyer with 4+ years PQE and commercial contracts experience, preferably in an in-house role within the Pharmaceutical/CRO/Biotech/Medical Device industry or a multi-national organization, or in a leading commercial law firm.
• Previous experience in commercial law and/or commercial contracts essential.
• Ability to independently evaluate complex legal concepts/issues and to provide concise commercially focused solutions in simple language to the business.
• Proven team player with demonstrated leadership, analytical and consultation skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly assess potential for risk and opportunity.
• An ability to work across varying levels of seniority.
• Strong interpersonal, organization and time management skills.
• Strong influencing style, articulate and confident.
• Self-starter with the ability to work under their own initiative with a very strong work ethic.
• Excellent attention to detail with excellent drafting skills.
• Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and/or tight timelines in a fluid/fast-paced, highly collaborative, team environment.
• Superior English written and oral communication skills.
