Bio
After completing my Master’s degree in Neuroscience at Trinity College Dublin, I trained in laboratory research. I worked in this area for several years but, after an introduction to clinical trials in a hospital setting, I realised that it was an area I wanted to learn more about. Following a graduate course in Clinical and Translation Research, I took on a role in data management with ICON in February 2014.
I’m currently working on a Phase III multiple myeloma study; it’s quite a technical role and I’ve learned and continue to learn so much since starting. Among my key responsibilities are maintaining the database for the study, replying to the clinical trial sites queries and raising queries to sites if data doesn’t meet programme requirements. Attention to detail is a crucial skill for this role, as well as the ability to understand complex scientific material and interpret it for your study. In addition, the ability to multitask, work well in a team, manage your own workload and complete tasks based on different deadline are very helpful characteristics.
I was attracted to working with ICON because it’s one of the most successful CROs in the world. I also like the fact that it is an Irish grown company, with quite small beginnings that’s expanded to be a giant in the industry with bases around the world. I’ve appreciated all of the learning tools available and look forward to continuing to seeing where my career with ICON takes me.
