Are you looking for a varied and challenging Commercial Analyst role that combines activities from finance, operations, and business development? Our senior analyst opportunity will allow you to be a true business partner for the service area he/she supports with a central role in supporting Business Development to secure new business award on commercial terms that ensure appropriate margins are achieved.
Working as part of this small team, the role will be responsible for ongoing development and maintenance of billing rates. This person will work with senior management to ensure that all rates are driving the desired commercial objectives. As part of this role, the individual will assist in the development of commercial deals for strategic partnerships and individual clients, going beyond analysis to offering solutions.
Role responsibilities include:
- Ensure integrity of the billing rates and manage these rates to meet the commercial targets of the division
- Calculate and maintain ICON billing rates and Sponsor rate cards excluding DOCS.
- Assist in developing commercial offerings, including discounting structure, payment terms, incentives and other client requests.
- Assist with commercial negotiations during the bid defense process; make decisions in line with agreed ICON policy.
- Partner externally with Client Finance and Outsourcing counterparts, and internal with Business Development, Proposals, Operations, Finance, Legal and Contracts.
- Recognize, exemplify and adhere to ICON's values which center around our commitment to People, Clients and Performance.
- Offer commercial recommendations and solutions to meet business needs
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the BD team, Proposals team and senior leaders in various functional areas
- Develop automated tools and trackers to improve the internal commercial offering review process.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial and business case analyses using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Point person for prompt response to ad-hoc rate requests
- Travel (approximately 5%) domestic and/or international.
Experience & Knowledge Requirements:

- A minimum of 2+ years of commercial/ financial experience and/or a combination of relevant life science industry experience
- Demonstrate ability to interpret data (analytical skills) and convert between formats.
- Numerate with financial and commercial understanding.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS office package, in particular Excel.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and influencing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan and manage projects
- Very strong focus on accuracy and quality of information provided; attention to detail
- Ability to interact with a variety of departments and importantly non-financially focused personnel
- Very strong focus on delivery of quality outputs in a timely manner to clients (internal and external)
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree, or local equivalent, in related fieId or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years' experience in financial analysis or financial planning and analysis.
- Solid academic record and strong quantitative skill.
- Effective verbal and written skills to work with peers, managers and Business Lead executives.
- Strong Microsoft Excel experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Due to the nature of this position it may be required for the employee to travel. Therefore, dependent on the employee's location, the employee may be required to possess a valid Driver's license.
