Director, Nonclinical Drug Development Services
 
Icon plc is seeking to recruit a Senior Scientist, with a strong background in DMPK, into the non-clinical team within the Drug Development Services Group.
 
With a strong track record in preclinical drug development following at least 10 years’ experience of working in the Pharmaceutical or allied industries, this individual will be a good team player with the ability to work independently or with others in the preclinical team (experts in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, ADME) to meet the requirements of ICON’s customers. Working operationally, they will take responsibility for preclinical drug development planning including project feasibility and act as an advocate for ICON in client relationships and in a business development capacity at professional and scientific meetings. They will establish and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor with key contacts to drive new and established business. They will also contribute to the strategy and direction of the Nonclinical Drug Development Team by providing input and expert advice into new services and growth in the therapeutic areas.
They must be self-motivated, well organized, able to work both independently and in multifunctional teams, highly flexible, attentive to detail and able to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously in support of DDS. Good organizational and planning skills together with excellent verbal and written communication skills that ensure coordination of efforts with others are essential, as is a sound understanding of the drug development process with particular emphasis on early development activities and experience of trouble-shooting in this area. A track-record of building long-term relationships and alliances with clients to both develop and secure new business in the consulting area would be advantageous. This position reports to the V.P (Nonclinical DDS).
