Senior Manager Clinical Operations
Overview of the Role
This role is responsible for the coordination, execution, control and completion of the Clinical Operations at a key country level or group of countries and ensuring delivery and development of the Clinical Operations team against key metrics. Drive the completion and delivery of the end to end service through a variety of metrics and KPIs enabling ICON develop and grow the delivery of work at country, site and, if appropriate, at portfolio level. Working for the Director/Senior Director, Clinical Operations/or the VP Clinical Operations you will work to develop and grow the capabilities, productivity, quality levels. Provide direction and accountability for the operational teams and their delivery at the country and site level and provide input to Director/Senior Director, Clinical Operations/or the VP Clinical Operations on same. Working within the clinical operations peer group to drive initiatives across the region and deliver these through their peers in their countries.
Role Responsibilities
•Responsibilities in regard to resourcing, line management, training, functional delivery and input on discussions around quality and operational delivery measurements within the Clinical Operations group at country level. Collaboration and reporting to the Director/Senior Director or VP on the above.
•Leading the overall delivery, through your operational team, to drive execution of service, client satisfaction, quality and efficiencies.
•Input to Director/Senior Director or VP on budgeting discussions for your country to drive productivity and quality within the region.
•Communicate with the Director/Senior Director and/or VP Clinical Operations, on all critical issues and business growth opportunities. To keep your Director/Senior Director or VP informed of all critical sponsor issues and the solutions that are being worked on.
•Working closely with Director/Senior Director and/or VP Clinical Operations on Business Development opportunities to support the growth of the country and provide regional/client based knowledge to achieve success.
•Working as a key project lead on process improvement, efficiencies and technological development to enable to group to deliver on its year on year targets.
•Working across your peer group to develop key people processes, success to be implemented into the region.
•Lead key initiatives at the manager level across the global clinical operations group. To ensure best practice and continuity in the ICON services.
•A key contact for the country in regard to operational questions and escalations
•Working with Director/Senior Director and/or VP Clinical Operations to develop key relationships with the wider business at country level.
•Working on initiatives lead by functional heads of CRA monitoring and Study Start up activities to support global consistency, focus and development across their remit.
•Drive innovation and continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
•Travel (approximately 40%-50% depending on country structure and direct report levels) domestic and/or international
•Assist with training for CRA/SSU Managers and Associates as required.
•Conduct regular 1:1 discussions with direct reports and lead team meetings at country and manager team level.
•Act as country level client liaison
•Represent Clinical Operations at Sponsor and internal audits.

•Other duties as assigned
•Dedicated line manager for the monitoring and study start up teams at country level, including CRA managers, study start up managers, CRAs CTAs, Study Start Up Associates and Support Specialists as determined by the country team size and structure.
•Provide effective management support through your team to deliver a high performing culture including managing attrition, development and engagement of the operational group
•Carrying out all relevant line management responsibilities including appraisals, goal setting and development plans.
•Managing the local clinical operations team by empowering and coaching them to deliver their key objectives.
Qualifications

•With a University degree in medicine, science, or equivalent, you will have had a successful career within the CRO/Pharmaceutical industry at manager level.
•The position will be home or office based depending on the country structure.
•Excellent management skills, developed with a collaborative approach to driving performance and success in the global environment
•Direct experience in managing Clinical Operations Managers/Associates and/or Data Management area of a CRO/Pharmaceutical company
•Significant proven experience in delivering high performance through team management, with prior direct Line Management experience, project management or equivalent job role.
