This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast paced, busy environment for a leading global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. Our Medical Technologist will ensure the Laboratory is meeting the highest quality standards. Perform the general technical assignments and testing in the Laboratory Department in accordance with current procedures and quality standards.
Overview of the Role:
- Demonstrate education and experience commensurate with performance of pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing procedures using molecular methods, techniques, and equipment
- Analyze result data for results reporting per study guidelines
- Deliver results within the expected time period
- Verify and ensure specimen integrity and continuity throughout all testing steps
- Perform critical quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of clinical data
- Validate test results through correlation with test parameters
- Complete routine instrument and equipment preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
- Train newer laboratory technologists in the use of proper techniques and procedures related to good clinical laboratory practice
- Effectively work independently and as a member of an dynamic, integrated team
- Be flexible and able to multi-task while working efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding work environment
- Be experienced with Word and Excel applications
- Demonstrate proficiency of verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate ongoing skill competency and fulfill annual training/continuing education requirements
Essential Duties:
- Organization: Able to maintain a clean workspace and store in-process and completed samples promptly and appropriately. Able to accurately keep and store records for use in results entry and audit activities as required.
- Cleaning and Equipment Maintenance: Accurately and dependably cleans, maintains, and operates equipment according to proper schedules. Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the Histopathology lab workspace.
- Tissue Processing: Processing unfixed tissue in a paraffin infiltrating tissue processor.
- Embedding: Properly orient tissue into accurate mold in an acceptable time frame to produce tissue blocks for sectioning.
- Microtomy: Sections slides for routine and immunohistochemistry staining.
- Staining: Will perform routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining.
- Adhere to CLIA/CAP regulations and to clinical testing guidelines.
- Participate in Continuing Education (CE) as required by regulatory agencies, including HIPAA and safety training as assigned.
- High attention to detail is required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

To succeed you will need:
- You will possess a Bachelor's degree along with a minimum of 2 years experience successfully performing as a Technologist in a histopathology laboratory, bloodbank or lab work flow.
- HT(ASCP), HTL(ASCP) eligibility for certification is preferred.
