At ICON, we have an incredible opportunity for a Supervisor, Sample Management to join the team in our Leopardstown, Dublin 18 location.

The Role:

To oversee and coordinate daily receipt of packages, data entry of patient information into the database, labelling and processing of samples for the laboratory.

To coordinate the process of storing the received sample management samples into the database in an accurate and timely manner.

To oversee the preparation of shipments. All sample handling must be done in adherence to OSHA and the ICON Laboratories Health and Safety Regulations as well as SOPs.

• Develop supporting staff skills, encourage growth and provide regular performance feedback.
• Act as mentor and help to train junior staff.
• Manage staff and set clear goals and objectives.
• Lead and motivate staff in the Sample Management department
• To supervise and assist in the daily process flow of specimens received including unpacking and scanning of packages and the receiving routine of specimens.
• Oversees the proper labelling of specimens with Accessioning barcodes and their validation.
• To supervise and assist in the receiving of samples into storage and assigning appropriate freezer space depending upon temperature requirements for the specific study.
• To supervise and assist in the receiving of Sample Management samples into the storage modules of ICOLIMS and assigning appropriate freezer space depending upon temperature requirements for the specific study.
• Responsible to maintain change of custody information.
• To supervise and assist where necessary the preparation of client sample shipments back to the client or an appropriate 3rd party laboratory or to other ICON locations for testing as appropriate.
• Transport of specimens to the technicians in the laboratory when necessary.
• Filing and retrieving internal copies of all reports and forms.
• To supervise and review purchase and the maintenance of the department's storage freezers.
• Ensure that defined metrics are captured and reported on a regular basis as requested by Management.
• Performs invoices coding.
• Performs additional relevant responsibilities as requested by Management staff.
• To oversee the Storage Sample Management group by helping to develop improved process Flows and training of new staff for efficiency and consistency.
• Also responsible for providing weekly updates and metrics.

Experience required:

• Previous experience in a people leading role preferable
• Level 7 degree or higher preferable
