Day in the Life of a Lead Project Associate at ICON
Welcome to a day in the life of Navya, a dynamic Senior Project Associate at ICON. Navya plays a pivotal role in supporting Oncology Studies, expertly juggling a diverse range of responsibilities. Her day, rich with challenges and achievements, begins with a diligent review of emails, setting the stage for her varied tasks in Reporting, Quality Control, Training, and Meeting Management.
As a Lead Project Associate (PR), Navya not only manages her study PR team across the globe but also aligns her daily duties with her long-term professional aspirations.
In this blog we hear directly from Navya who provides a fascinating insight into her role at ICON.
Supporting Oncology Studies
My day typically begins with a diligent review of emails, setting the tone for a productive day ahead. As a Lead Project Associate, I guide my PR team through the complexities of our Oncology Studies, ensuring every detail is meticulously managed. My responsibilities on the studies vary, with no two days the same. I am consistently tackling additional stretch tasks aligned with my professional goals.
Expertise in Process Enhancement
As a Lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Project Associate Group for Predictive Study Operations, my role involves bridging knowledge gaps for global PRs. We focus on refining processes and tools, making them more intuitive and effective for the betterment of our business operations.
Commitment to Quality and Transition
In the PRSSD Initiative, a process used to ensure tasks within study assignments have detailed instructions, I lead a team of six Project Associates where our primary goal is to quality-check study and transition documents. This ensures that new team members are well-equipped with the necessary details, guidelines, and Work Instructions (WIs) to excel in their roles.
Fostering Future Talent and Social Engagement
To continue to expand my skills, my involvement extends to initiatives where we gather details and develop internal wikipedia content to support growth within the team as well as building and refining career maps for current and future Project Associates. Additionally, I participate in creating content for social media to celebrate successes and local office events, further enhancing ICON's team spirit and attracting external talent.
Professional Growth and Recognition at ICON
ICON has been a nurturing ground for my career. Starting as a Project Associate after graduating with a Masters, I'm incredibly proud to have risen through the ranks, earning two promotions within 2.5 years. The support from my People Leaders, Functional Team Leads, and Mentors has been instrumental in this journey. My contributions have been recognized with the 'Be-a-Ten' award and subsequent promotions, reflecting ICON's culture of acknowledging hard work and dedication.
Training and Mentorship: Building a Strong Foundation
The comprehensive training and mentorship programs at ICON, encompassing everything from SME sessions to soft skill development, have been pivotal in my growth as a professional. These initiatives have not only enhanced my skills but also kept me engaged and motivated.
Integrity at ICON: A Core Value
To me, 'Integrity' at ICON means upholding the highest ethical standards and doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. It's about maintaining our legacy and ensuring our brand continues to resonate with trust and excellence.
Why ICON? A Culture of Belonging and Equality
The collaborative atmosphere, sense of belonging, and inclusive culture are what make ICON unique. It's a place where everyone's voice is heard and valued, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace environment.
Life Beyond Work: Embracing Leisure and Creativity
When not immersed in work, I find joy in simple pleasures like sipping coffee at sunset, whether in my garden or by the beach. My love for music manifests in playing guitar and singing, a testament to my belief in balancing professional commitments with personal passions.
