In this role, you will handle aspects of the project budget, project analysis, change order identification and assistance, financial tracking, and resource planning (PlanView). Business Planning Analysts’ responsibilities will begin during work order stage and end at project closure but will have involvement once the asset is awarded as well as each work order budget that follows.
ICON is a global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. We specialize in the strategic development, management and analysis of programs that support Clinical Development - from compound selection to Phase I-IV clinical studies.
Responsibilities:
•Overall management of the project budget for ALL services (full service, not just clinical operations).
•Assist contracts management with the development and execution of the work order (not including the cost revisions until budget approval as noted above).
•Provide independent, objective project tracking review and financial analysis to maintain and/or improve project profitability.
•Assist contracts management with the identification, development and execution of the change orders including timely identification of out of scope activities.
•Manage project resource planning with the Project Manager and PRM through PlanView to maximize staff utilization.
•Assist finance with increased timeliness related to invoicing of payment milestones as well as communicating pertinent information to finance for revenue recognition purposes. Develop, build, and bring synergies to the relationships at Sponsor and ICON as the asset/project business lead as needed.
•Responsible for all ICON business activities across all functional areas (clinical, data management, statistics, medical, etc) for each assigned asset/project.
•Client facing (both Sponsor and ICON internal) on all matters related to business activities as needed.
•Interact and work with proposals in the development of project budgets after asset award.
•Interact with contracts management related to project work orders as well as with proposal development leading the budget activities.
•Complete handover of information (specifications, timeline, resourcing, etc) from proposals and contracts management at the award stage and assist with the recost process until work order signature.
•Provide an internal monthly project reporting package to the ICON Project Manager, ICON Business Lead, and any other designated personnel as needed.
•Monthly interaction (inclusive of project team meetings) with the Project Manager and project team as it relates to the project tracking of financial information (key specifications, timeline, hours, units, invoicing, finance activities, resource management, etc),
•Assist study teams with maintenance of internal and external project planning systems as required (iRecruit, DVSO, Planview, etc).
•Assist and guide/advise the Project Manager and project team as it relates to the financial management of a fixed price budget.
•Interaction with Project Manager and Finance (accounts receivable) to trigger project invoicing per the project work order payment schedule.
•Work with the Project Manager and PRM (and functional resource groups) as it relates to appropriate project resource staffing to contract (budget), plan/forecast, and actuals.
•Work with the Project Manager and PRM to review current resources as project work is planned and update PlanView as required to forecast resources through project end.
•Assist with the Project Manager in the identification of out of scope items as well as interact with contracts management with the development and execution of the change order as outlined in the Sponsor/ICON MSA.
•Interact and provide necessary information to Finance related to any activities required to supplement revenue recognition, forecasting, invoicing, etc.
•Provide Asset financial reports to ICON Business Lead for submission to Sponsor on a routine basis (Governance meetings, etc) as needed.
•Ability to mentor, train and/or supervise other Clinical staff as appropriate.
•Lead and motivate staff globally in the group.
•Travel may be 0-10%
To Succeed You Will Need:
•Bachelor’s degree or local equivalent in finance/accounting, business, or related discipline.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, proposal development, contracts management, or relevant clinical research industry experience.
•Previous experience in finance/accounting, financial/project analysis, proposal development, or contracts management at a CRO or pharmaceutical industry.
•Work independently and properly prioritize work with minimal supervision.
•Excellent communication (written and oral) skills including professionalism in interactions with all levels of management within ICON and Sponsor.
•Demonstrated ability to interpret data (analytical skills) and convert between formats.
•Demonstrate a logical approach to analysis and working with a project team.
•Excellent working knowledge of MS Office package.
