IT Operational Security Manager - (Dublin based role)

Position Summary

This is a management position with responsibility for driving IT Security Operations globally for ICON. The role requires a mix of hands on technical and people management skills. This position reports to the Head of IT Security.

The IT Operational Security Manager will take ownership of and enhance the operational security capabilities within ICON, implementing new security controls and toolsets, developing, reviewing and analyzing security reports to drive investigations and improvements to security posture.  

Key Responsibilities will include:

·         Focus on operational management of IT Security with emphasis on; developing and recording Key Risk Indicators, control effectiveness, threat intelligence, issuing security alerts, incident management, security process, patch management, vulnerability management, change management, analytics and reporting

·         Take ownership of and enhance  the operational security reporting capabilities and processes within ICON

·         Drive planning and tracking of tasks, schedules, resources and dependencies

·         Interface with third party Managed Security Service Providers to ensure incidents are proactively tracked and managed

·         Quickly spot problematic trends and take proactive steps to mitigate impacts

·         Ensure the operation of technical systems is consistent with ICON policies and procedures

·         Manage the development of SLA's in agreement with senior security management and the business

·         Keeping the business up to date and informed of changes

·         Managing relationships with senior stakeholders

·         Reviewing and analyzing security reports, from multiple tools to drive investigations and improvements.

·         Managing a distributed team of security analysts

Key requirements and experience:

·         Proven experience as an IT Security Operations Manager (3-5 years)

·         Experience managing geographically dispersed operational teams

·         Understanding of IT and Information security techniques and methodologies, particularly operational security practices

·         Will have an understanding of how to translate technical issues into business risk

·         Have experience in influencing and negotiating with relevant stakeholders to work towards solutions and will have a positive “can do” attitude

·         Will have experience in vendor management and negotiation.

·         Analytical, problem solving and communication skills

·         Have a good understanding and support background in managing the operation of major security systems such as SIEM, SIM, firewalls, vulnerability scanning, anti-virus, IDS/IPS, Web Application Firewalls, proxy servers, email security, wireless security and DLP technologies

·         Experience with audit event collection and reporting toolsets.

·         Used to working to a high level of accuracy and have a dedicated and focused work ethic. Also has an understanding of the “big picture” with the vision and drive to continually improve ICON’s security posture.

·         Provide incident handling, incident response and incident documentation skills.

·         Work on investigation of security incidents.

·         Performs analysis of log files.

·         Communicates directly with the asset owners during high severity incidents.

·         Proactively look for suspicious anomalous activity based on data alerts or data outputs from various toolsets.

·         Manages and assures threat feeds are received, aggregated, reviewed, tickets and acted upon accordingly.

·         Takes an active part in the containment of incidents.

·         Documents remediation required based on input during incident handling or vulnerability identification.

·         Issue documentation and proactively contacts system asset owners when an incident is resolved to ensure that remediation steps are understood and remediation time line is communicated.

·         Excellent client relations, people management, and technical leadership skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Ability to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities; ability to learn new technology and concepts quickly

Educational requirements: 
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Security, Information Security, Information Technology, or Mathematics (or equivalent work experience)

-7+ years of experience of network/security architecture or operations experience

-Certifications: CISSP, CISM, GCIA, GWAPT, GCIH, GSEC, OSCP, OSCE, OSCP, or similar certification preferable.
