The Learning Solutions Manager will lead a team in the Learning Solutions function; a part of ICON University. These teams are currently: Learning Operations and Technology, Learning Design and Experience and Learning Media. These may expand or change in the future. You will be an expert in your area and a passionate team leader. You will coach and develop your team to be positive, forward-looking and confident service to the business. *LI-MB1

Your team will work closely with Subject Matter Experts from across Icon PLC, IT, Learning and Development specialists in Icon University and team-mates in the Learning Design and Technology team to produce relevant, purposeful and engaging experiences. You will be creative and curious; looking outward to the rapidly-changing edtech landscape to bring new approaches and ideas to the design, development and delivery of ICON University’s learning offerings. 

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build a strong and effective team by balancing a participative and consultative management style while also setting a clear and compelling future direction for that team
  • Collaborate closely with other Learning Solutions Managers, under the direction of their lead, to deliver consistent results across a diverse range of skillsets
  • Contributes and completes the work of the team (e.g. managing the LMS, learning design and producing media)
  • Lead a team of professionals, implementing agreed policies, processes and working patterns while also influencing future policies and processes
  • Has a direct impact on the results of ICON University by developing and sustaining their team’s ability to meet quality, volume, and timeliness objectives
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement, by proactive engagement with the business and our learners, and drive that change 
  • Manage a team with complex professional skillsets knowing when to listen and when to challenge your team
  • May lead on execution of department plans and projects (e.g. LMS upgrades, developing new learning methods, implementing new content formats)
  • Adapt plans and priorities to meet operational challenges  and to exploit opportunities
  • Builds strong relationships internally and externally to ICON University; demonstrate the value of a learning design function by delivering a quality product 
  • Takes a ‘data driven’ approach. Looking at, for example, business development targets to inform priorities.
  • Act as a ‘gatekeeper’ for learning at ICON; being rigorous in ensuring that the content is of a high quality and usability to protect the learner experience and to deliver business objectives
  • Provide advice to others in your area of expertise within your team and across ICON University
  • May manage external relationships with vendors and other outsourced suppliers (e.g. commission and maintain outsourced content)

SUPERVISION
  • Reports to Director of Learning Solutions
  • Potentially have a team of 3 or 4 – TBC
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of five years’ experience, relevant to the specific team, in a learning design and development function delivering to a range of contexts and audiences
  • Requires in-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in own discipline (e.g. Instructional Design or HTML5 animation) with some knowledge of related disciplines (e.g. User Experience) in Learning Solutions. Must appreciate how the range of skillsets ‘fit together’ to produce a quality product. 
  • Use expert knowledge to identify and apply appropriate theory and best practice in your domain (e.g. operational ownership of enterprise learning systems, leading design teams and managing content production).
  • Evidenced ability to lead a number of projects and manage time and people effectively to deliver against deadlines
  • Experience of full production life-cycles from design to evaluation (e.g. storyboards, asset management, etc.)
  • Experience in a regulated industry is ideal
  • Project management experience in a complex environment
  • Team leadership of a similar function
  • Awareness of mobile and responsive design (e.g. HTML5 and Bootstrap)
  • Excellent writing and editing with evidenced consideration of audience and tone
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors degree (in Learning Design, Visual Design, Media Production, Communications or other related area is preferred but not essential)
  • Postgraduate degree in Learning Design or other related area is preferred but not essential
