The Role:
 
As Legal Counsel, you will assist with a wide ranging legal portfolio in the day to day management of the legal function and providing legal advice to all business stakeholders in areas of contract, corporate, data protection, litigation, and compliance.
 
Responsibilities will include:
  • Negotiate a wide range of general client and vendor commercial contracts (e.g. confidentiality agreements, services agreements, agency agreements, distribution agreements, and software license agreements, master services agreements, work orders & change orders)
  • Manage various legal projects to completion in an efficient and effective manner and liaise with internal stakeholders in the business for input and support in such projects.
  • Advise on corporate and compliance issues and any other legal matters that arise in the day to day operation of the business.
  • Engage and liaise with external counsel.
  • Undertake other reasonably related duties (including administrative tasks) as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Mentoring and motivating junior colleagues.
  • Ad-hoc project work.
Experience & Knowledge Requirements:
  • Qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, Advocate, Attorney or similar with 1+ years post qualification) or person holding an LLB, LLM or equivalent law degree with extensive experience.
  • Experience in commercial contract negotiations preferably in an in-house role (within the Pharmaceutical/CRO/Biotech/Medical Device industry or a multi-national organization) will be advantageous.
  • Previous experience in commercial contracts essential (in a commercial law firm or a leading multinational);
  • Have the ability to evaluate complex legal issues and provide commercial focused solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly assess potential for risk and opportunity;
  • An ability to work across varying levels of seniority;
  • Proven team player with demonstrated leadership, analytical and consultation skills;
  • Strong intrapersonal, organization and time management skills;
  • Strong influencing style, articulate and confident;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work under their own initiative with a very strong work ethic;
  • Excellent attention to detail with excellent drafting skills;
  • Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and/or tight timelines in a fluid/fast-paced, highly collaborative, team environment;
