Manager/Senior Manager Risk and Compliance

This pivotal role plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe use of radiation and radioactive materials within ICON.  This global role will support sponsor related activities by assisting in project setup and client-facing discussions.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all activities involving radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment adhere to national and international standards and regulations. Maintaining detailed records of radiation levels, equipment maintenance, and personnel exposure. These records are essential for regulatory compliance and for tracking trends over time. Communicating with federal and state regulatory bodies regarding radiation safety matters. Conducting regular audits of the radiation safety program to ensure all monitoring and maintenance activities are being carried out effectively and in compliance with regulations.

Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitoring radiation levels and maintaining records of radiation exposure for all personnel. Regularly measuring radiation levels in various areas to ensure they are within safe limits. This includes conducting area surveys and using radiation detection instruments to check for contamination.

Radiation Protection Programs: Developing, implementing, and maintaining radiation protection programs to minimize radiation exposure to workers and the environment.

Training and Education: Providing radiation safety training to staff members, including proper handling procedures and safety guidelines.

Inspections and Audits: Conducting regular radiation safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with all radiation safety rules and regulations. Performing leak tests on sealed radioactive sources to ensure they are not releasing radiation into the environment. Identifying any deviations from acceptable radiation levels and implementing corrective actions to address these issues. This may involve adjusting procedures, repairing equipment, or enhancing protective measures. Investigating incidents involving radiation exposure and implementing corrective actions.

Equipment Management: Monitoring and maintaining radiation detection equipment to ensure its proper functionality. Ensuring that all radiation detection and monitoring equipment is properly calibrated and maintained. This involves routine checks and servicing to guarantee accurate readings and reliable performance.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Leading the development and implementation of risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across various projects.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Overseeing the interpretation of compliance data and metrics to drive insights and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Providing strategic guidance on compliance frameworks and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Establishing partnerships with external stakeholders to enhance compliance awareness and promote best practices in risk management.

Your Profile:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field such as law, business administration, or risk management.
  • Extensive experience in risk management and compliance within the clinical research or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance frameworks and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and drive change in a complex organization.
