Role: Manager, Software Development

Location: Ireland, Dublin

What about the TEAM:

Applied Digital Solutions (ADS) provides full Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) for key products used by ICON in the execution of clinical trials.
 

This ALM encompasses all phases of the product lifecycle including strategy and business alignment through to product inception, planning, development, marketing and sales support, and product service and support.

What about the MISSIONS:

As a Manager Software Development, you will lead a cross functional teams including software engineers. 

You will provide leadership across a multi-functional team, ensuring readiness of all aspects of our software releases in line with the SDLC process and against our internal standards.

As the primary actor in an agile environment, you will cooperate with the Product Owner to make sure that business owners and your team know where we are going and how this will be done.

You will provide a clear understanding of delivering the right product and speed to market.

• Manage the Software Development Life Cycle for one or more products

• Lead a team of sofware engineers (10 people)

• Managing the delivery promise of a number of cross functional teams working using Agile methodologies
• Estimates user stories assigned to the sprint of a planning meeting.
• Reports sprint progress on a burndown chart and by the categories ‘To Do’, In Progress, Done.
• Reports the velocity achieved at the end of each sprint to the Head of Software.
• Makes sure that each team member follows Firecrest Software Methodology.
• Assigns tasks to team members based on business priorities.
• Facilitates daily stand up, sprint planning, and sprint retrospective meetings.
• Constantly improves team processes to make them as efficient and beneficial as possible.
• Works with Software Architect to identify the best technical solution for each sprint and continuously searches for efficiency and quality improvements.
• Works with UI Engineer to apply the best user interface design practices.
• Ensures that a team is fully functional and productive and shields from external interferences.
• Applies the best engineering practices and improves tools.
• Develops lower-level technical design to meet the high-level technical architecture.


To be successful in the role, you will ideally have:

·       Over 8+ years' experience or relevant experience in progressive IT as part of software development team

·       Line management experience

·       Demonstrates appropriate interpersonal skills required to establish effective working relationships with clients and/or business partners.

. Strong passion for software technology, an ability to directly contribute to product development, and make sure that the delivered product is highly reliable and of good quality. 

. Strong technical knowledge that will allow you produce clear, detailed plans with strong delivery execution, balance agility with discipline.
