Systematic Reviewer -  Oxford (UK) 
 
We are currently seeking a graduate to join our specialist systematic review team within the Oxford health economics department. Specialising in health outcomes research with a focus on health economics we undertake consultancy projects for a range of international clients primarily in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. Our systematic review team identify, assemble and interpret information to understand the value of new health technologies. This information is used by our clients to inform real world health care decisions. Our research is frequently used to support decision making at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK.
 
The systematic review team are respected for the quality of their work which covers clinical, cost and quality of life data. This team is pivotal in providing stand-alone data to support health technology appraisals and in providing data to inform the department’s analytical work. Health technology appraisal is a fast growing sector, with systematic reviewers in demand across consulting, academia and industry.
 
The graduate systematic reviewer would be expected to use robust methods to identify relevant literature, extract appropriate data and summarise and critically appraise this information. The outputs of this research may be stand-alone reports for clients or databases that are used to inform meta-analyses and cost-effectiveness analyses conducted by the health economics team. ICON are committed to supporting the growth and development of the systematic review team. The graduate recruited for this role will receive on the job training from our senior scientist as well as external training.
 
Successful candidates will need an undergraduate degree (2.1 or above) in any health-related, scientific or quantitative discipline
 
Candidates will need to show evidence of the following:
  • A logical and systematic approach to their work
  • A good understanding of clinical and biological concepts
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • A strong desire to learn and to gain a deep understanding of the work of the department
  • High self-motivation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, coupled with high quality interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • An interest in health care decision making
  • A basic understanding of statistics
