The Technical Director acts as the subject matter expert and scientific leader in the design, development and validation of histopathology-based tests in a regulated clinical environment. The position works collaboratively with various stakeholders and other functional leaders to ensure successful development, validation and technology transfer of assays to the CLIA laboratory.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical and scientific oversight of the histology development laboratory and assigned personnel
• Work with Scientific Affairs, Business Development and Sales personnel as needed to support and secure new business to help meet corporate objectives
• Work with Scientific Affairs and Business Development to build relationships with strategic partners related to tissue diagnostics platforms
• Provide technical expertise in product development that is creative, innovative and rigorous in design
• Provide technical solutions that address clients' histopathology-based assay needs and requirements
• Provide cost and timelines for test development, validation and transfer to CLIA lab
• Manage development projects, validation studies and associated reporting
• Create, implement and improve Standard Operating Procedures
• Effectively troubleshoot workflows, instrumentation and associated processes
• Analyze and provide recommendations to the Pathologist/Laboratory Director in interpreting unusual or challenging results
• Act as an architect for laboratory systems from specimen to report
• Provide appropriate specifications and requirements for data analysis and interpretation
• Present and discuss technical capabilities, data, and reports to internal and external stakeholders and clients
• Provide technical and scientific oversight of the histology development laboratory and assigned personnel

Requirements

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Molecular Biology or similar field preferred
• More than 10 years of experience related to oncology biomarker research and histopathology assay development and/or diagnostic assay development
• More than 10 years of experience working in a pharmaceutical research environment
