This is an exciting opportunity for a Health Economist that’s seeking to work in the Clinical Research Industry. Learn more about how you can be a part of the Epidemiology team that offers services supporting global clinical and outcomes research initiatives.
We are currently seeking a Health Economist to join our team within the Epidemiology Practice, based out of Vancouver.
About the Health Ecomonist role within ICON:
ICON is looking to hire a Health Economist to develop and assist leading epidemiology and/or health economic research projects. This will include assisting in the design, implementation and analysis of epidemiologic or health economic projects; using standard project management techniques to track financial performance and manage communication of projects; provide epidemiological and/or health economic input into study proposals; and to provide mentoring to junior staff.
The successful applicant will work with a capable and maturing team of epidemiologists, health economists and analysts, and with senior team members to develop and lead proposal development across ICON Commercialisation & Outcomes.
The Epidemiologist / Health Economist will report to the Lead Epidemiologist/Health Economist and Director of Epidemiology/Health Economics; and preference will be given to applicants in the Toronto or Vancouver areas.

· Three to five years research or consulting experience in epidemiology, or health economics, in Pharma or related industry or academic setting; or a similar duration in an academic environment
· Experience in training, mentoring, and providing technical support to colleagues
· Demonstrable experience of relevant scientific capability
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Due to the nature of this position it may be required for the employee to travel. Therefore, dependent on the employee’s location, the employee may be required to possess a valid Driver’s license.
· A strong desire to learn and to gain a deep understanding of the work of the department.
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
· High self-motivation and ability to meet timelines.
· MSc, or equivalent, in epidemiology, pharmacovigilance, health economics, or a related discipline.
Additional preferred qualifications:
· Travel (approximately 15%) domestic and/or international
· Take responsibility for coordinating own workload and embrace teamwork in a Commercialization & Outcomes research department.
· Contribute to marketing activities
· Establish and maintain client relationships
· Contribute to building business links within LPOR and with ICON Clinical Research
· Undertake project work to a high standard and in a timely manner.
· Provide project management and technical inputs to projects, as appropriate
· Contribute to publications/scientific communications
· Demonstrate and actively promote an open and honest working environment to encourage close teamwork and foster knowledge transfer
· Responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant SOPs, policies and procedures.
· Provide methodological guidance on technical issues related to study design and bias minimization, and analytic planning; or the development of economic models*
· Assist the project lead for the technical delivery of projects, including coordinating and delegating to junior team members, performing study-related tasks
· Manage and be involved in proposal writing, project and client management, and financial performance of projects.
· Provide methodological support to other branches of ICON*
· Participate in development of marketing materials
· Provide mentoring for other members of the team.
· Liaise with other Teams and Consulting Practices to ensure smooth integration of proposals and project delivery*
