At ICON, we have an incredible opportunity for an expert Legal Associate to join the team in our North Wales office.

The Role

As Legal Associate you will support the SSU legal function and providing assistance (legal and administrative) to all business stakeholders in areas of contract drafting and reviewing commercial contracts in relation to study start up activity globally.

• Assisting the legal function in the negotiation of a wide range of general site/investigator contracts (e.g. confidentiality agreements, clinical trial agreements, facility use agreements, ancillary agreements, letters of indemnification, powers of attorney, CRA EMR Access agreements and support and maintenance agreements). Legal associate will conduct these functions globally as needed, focusing mainly on the US/Canada region and secondarily on the APAC region.
• Leading legal projects to completion in an efficient and effective manner and liaising with internal stakeholders around the business for input and support in such projects.
• Assisting with a wide range of legal matters including corporate, employment, IP/IT, data protection, litigation, consumer law, compliance and any other legal matters that arise in the day to day operation of the business.
• Engaging and liaising with external counsel (managing and minimizing costs to the extent possible) and managing the invoice process.
• To undertake other reasonably related duties (including administrative tasks) as may be assigned from time to time.
• Any other tasks as appropriate.

What you need

• Paralegal certificate required; Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree preferred
• Proven experience in commercial contract negotiation with experience in study start up negotiations.
• An excellent team player with strong influencing and communication skills.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• A self-starter with the ability to work under their own initiative with a strong work ethic.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and/or tight timelines in a fluid/fast-paced, highly collaborative, team environment.
• Fluent English written and oral communication skills.
