As a Outsourcing Patient Engagement Lead you will be joining the world’s largest & most comprehensive clinical research organisation, powered by healthcare intelligence.
The Outsourcing Patient Engagement Lead (“OPEL”) will support the contracting strategy of the Patient Recruitment and global GCO (Global Clinical Operations) team as it relates to patient engagement (i.e., Patient Recruitment Vendors, Patient Organizations, SMOs (Site Management Organization)). The OPEL will play a key role within Clinical Outsourcing partnering closely with key stakeholders to institute novel contracting solutions to support patient engagement needs and strategies across the GCO portfolio. The OPEL will lead and manage patient recruitment contract and budget development across all Disease Areas. The OPEL builds the relationship between internal and external Patient Organizations/Vendors and will be the single point of contact for all contracting needs. The OPEL will ensure that contracting strategies align with the overall patient recruitment needs for all Clinical studies (Phase I-IV). The OPEL will keep abreast of current contract trends within the patient recruitment space and proactively identify new contracting strategies to support business needs. The OPEL will actively participate in the vendor selection process. Post-award, the OPEL will be responsible for the generation and negotiation of contracts, including FMV (for HCPs (Health Care Provider)) as required. The OPEL will ensure that all elements of the contract (terms, SOW (Statement of Work), budget & payment terms) meet the needs of both the Vertex business owner and Vertex legal/OBIE requirements. As required, the OPEL will also be responsible for generating change orders to the contracts of work. The OPEL will work closely with the Outsourcing Coordinator to ensure the contract is executed and the PO is released promptly.
- Responsible for the contract negotiation and execution of contracts supporting needs of the area to which the OSM (Outsourcing Manager) is assigned (e.g., Patient Organizations, SMOs, Patient Recruitment vendors)
- Act as the primary contact with vendors/ for negotiation of the scope of work, study assumptions and budgets
- Work closely with VM OBIE (Office of Business Integrity & Ethics), Legal, Privacy, Business owners and other relevant functional groups for review and escalation of contract and budget issues
- Identifies process gaps. Works with Legal, OBIE, Vendor Management and OSLT SME (Subject Matter Expert) to drive the creation and implementation of contracting templates, standardize the statement of work, budget templates, and payment schedule for each recruitment vendor type.
- Support cross-functional relationships with relevant stakeholders
- If applicable, participate in study team meetings (SET)
- Maintain contracts database
- Perform other duties as required (potential to be cross trained to support other DAL/OSM responsibilities or QC (Quality Control) team)
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Recent (3-5 years) experience in patient recruitment contract and budget development.
- Legal/Compliance experience is a plus.
- Minimum of 7 minimum years of experience in Outsourcing.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
