The Role:
ICON Laboratory Services, is seeking a Technical Director of Chemistry/Biochemistry testing in ICON Laboratory Services. The position is comparable to an Associate Medical Director OR Principal Biochemist position in a hospital laboratory.
The individual will be based in Dublin but will work cross-functionally to support the wider global labs (New York, Singapore and Beijing) to ensure high quality services for our clients.
ICON PLC is a Clinical Research Organization that is a global provider of consulting, and outsourced development and commercialisation services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, government and public health organisations. ICON Central Laboratories are dedicated exclusively to central laboratory testing and the associated services for life-saving clinical trials. Our Central Labs perform safety / core lab testing, Immunology, Molecular, Micro, Flow Cytometry and Pathology testing for patients. We are a global CAP accredited laboratory adhering to the highest global standards.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
Qualifications Applicants should possess a MSc or PhD in a subject relevant to Clinical Biochemistry and Part I FRC Path (UK) or equivalent qualification OR applicants should hold an earned Doctoral Degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution and be a NRCC or ABCC diplomate
In addition, applicants should have at least 3 + years relevant experience in clinical biochemistry/related discipline. (Clinical/translational Post-Doctoral experience may be considered)
Job Description
1.Consistent with training and professional experience, provides scientific, technical and/or medical expertise to the laboratory as well as to the project management and business development departments. This expertise will include the interpretation, correlation and communication of the medical significance of laboratory data.
2.Provide professional, scientific, consultative or advisory, organizational, administrative and educational matters relevant to the services offered.
3.Directly monitors and upholds Performance and Quality standards including, ICL-wide harmonization, internal QC, and external quality assurance schemes (QC, PT, NGSP etc.); review and implementation of the Quality Management Plan, and oversight of monthly QA meetings; approves relevant laboratory Validations and SOP's.
4.Recognize, exemplify and adhere to ICON's values which centre on our commitment to People, Clients and Performance.

5.Travel (approximately 10%) domestic and/or international.
6.Qualified to hold the relevant licenses as laboratory director or medical director in one or more ICL laboratories.
7. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of current medical advancements through continued education and memberships.
