Summary:

Procurement Associate Role supporting Global Business Services (GBS)

The global procurement team own ICON's supplier relationships. The procurement associate is a key member that manages global suppliers and demonstrates best in class procurement skills to mitigate risk, add value and ensure quality service delivery to ICON.  The procurement associate will undertake all procurement activities including sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.

What will you be doing:

Procurement & Category Management:

  • Category Management responsibility for various global business/corporate services to include corporate professional services, marketing, insurance, stationery, freight and courier.
  • Effectively manage strategic supplier relationships within assigned categories as principal point of contact for assigned suppliers.
  • Ensure the execution of standards, controls, policies, procedures and performance metrics to effectively and efficiently manage supplier spend for assigned categories.
  • Create strategic relationships with assigned suppliers to meet/exceed requirements for cost reduction and service improvement.
  • Strong knowledge as a Subject Matter Expert for assigned categories and the associated suppliers.
  • Responsible for stakeholder engagement and leading / RFI / RFP / Analysis / Supplier selection activities.
  • Working with ICON Legal affairs to establish and manage supplier contracts in line with ICON policies and procedures. Take the lead on commercials aspects of contract development.
  • Effectively manage risk (Financial / Regulatory / Contractual / Confidentiality / Ethics ) for assigned categories.
  • Working with procurement management to act as key internal lead in any issue escalation.
  • Deliver regular supplier business reviews to ensure that business needs are maintained in terms of cost, quality, delivery and customer service.
  • Support ICON's sustainable procurement program and drive supplier engagement.
  • Embrace and champion change and continuous improvement processes.
  • Contribute to formulation of procurement objectives and strategies.

General:

  • Meet individual performance goals/objectives as agreed with Procurement Management.
  • Recognize, exemplify and adhere to ICON's values.
  • Ensure adherence to ICON Global Supplier Management and Procurement policies and contribute to ICONs culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Drive projects relating to continuous improvement with active involvement and positive contribution to the success of the global procurement department and ICON.
  • Being an ambassador for the global procurement team.
  • Travel (approximately 5%) domestic and/or international.

Requirements/Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in similar procurement role managing various categories – ideally services.
  • Advanced communication skills and experience of working with global organisations.
  • Demonstrable procurement knowledge and experience of activities supporting the full procurement lifecycle.
  • Strong experience of P2P systems and processes.
  • Relevant and proven experience working with global external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and administration skills and experience.
