Overview of the role
As a purchasing agent you will be responsible for processing IT Purchase Order requests and dealing with queries relating to IT purchasers.
Job Functions/Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
· Process Purchase Order requests.
· Manage escalations and queries from ICON IT staff relating to PO requests.
· Maintaining knowledge of the IT category, region or function in which they operate including market dynamics and procurement process life cycles.
· Working closely with internal ICON business and IT partners to understand their requirements, mapping these to the ICON strategy and driving the ICON agenda.
· Negotiating appropriate commercial and contractual arrangements with suppliers and for all products and services in their control, including loading information onto appropriate systems.
· Taking a lead on procurement improvement projects to manage cost and performance improvement
· Review purchasing requisitions for accurate data and appropriate authorization prior to creating a PO
· Work closely with IT department as your main internal customer, however, you may also
· work with other departments when involved in projects
· Monitor spend trends amongst staff to prevent excessive costs (ex: bulk order where possible to save on shipping costs etc.)
· Work closely with project owners on Capital budget purchase requests to assure cost savings overall
· Maintain positive relationship with our vendors/suppliers
· Complete administrative duties as needed.
· Special projects as assigned.
· Travel (approximately 10%) domestic and/or international
Role Requirements

· Excellent organizational, verbal communication and written skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels in our organization are essential.
· Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an IT or technical purchasing related role.
· In depth proven experience in a technical purchasing related role in the European region.
· Demonstrate experiences in a wide variety of MS Windows based software applications.
· Strong understanding of computer hardware and software.
· Strong negotiation skills.
· Ability to read and interpret legal contracts.
· Any purchasing related certifications a plus.
Education
· Bachelor’s Degree, or local equivalent, in a computer related field or equivalent experience.
