Solutions Architect
Based in Dublin

The successful candidate will support the definition of ICON's Future State Architecture and perform the necessary leadership, analysis, design & communication tasks to define or ensure that Solution Architectures (SA) for programs of work are aligned with the future state.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Develop a road map of the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from the current to a simplified future state
  • Clearly articulate options, supported by summary costs/benefits/risks to support executive/steering level communication
  • Coordinate solution architecture implementation and modification activities
  • Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations
  • Consult with application or infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture, and identify when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate project needs
  • Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the SA
  • Document all solution architecture design and analysis work
  • Work closely with the enterprise program management office (EPMO) or project office to ensure alignment of plans with what is being delivered
  • Travel (approximately 20%) domestic and/or international
Experience, Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Seven to ten years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in an enterprise role designing enterprise applications (n-tier, web-based) and/or information management (ETL. SOA, MDM) solutions
  • Exposure to architecting for cloud, mobility, collaboration, portal & workflow-centric solutions
  • Exposure to Identity and Access management, and enterprise security requirements and constraints
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Strong leadership skills, supported by excellent analytical and technical ability
  • Excellent written, verbal, planning and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of all components of an enterprise technical architecture.
  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
  • Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting
  • Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies
  • Strong understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis and design, and/or client/server systems
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations
