Senior Director, Global Program Management

Location: United States

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for global program management of functional service and resource-based strategic partnerships, overseeing the delivery and quality of overall program communications, direction, implementation, coordination, execution and control of global, cross-functional programs. The Senior Director, GPM will provide leadership to effectively coordinate and manage activities of global, cross-functional programs, to ensure timelines, targets, performance metrics and quality are delivered in a cost-effective and profitable manner. You will act as the key client contact for assigned programs and develop successful relationships with clients to drive increased volume of business. This includes active participation in client operations and executive governance committees, as necessary.

JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and lead a team of Directors and Managers in the successful planning, execution and governance of global programs and strategic partnerships.
  • Manage goal setting, performance review, development, career progression and succession planning for a team of Directors and Managers.
  • Understand and manage cross functional program inter-dependencies to achieve program and client targets.
  • Act as the key client contact for assigned programs and develop successful relationships with clients to drive increased volume of business. This includes active participation in client operations and executive governance committees, as necessary.
  • Effectively manage program financial targets, including revenue and margin.
  • Manage the quality process and review quality metrics to ensure a high quality standard is maintained for service delivery.
  • Measure and report program metrics / KPIs and lead continuous improvement.
  • Keep internal and client stakeholders regularly informed of program progress, risk identification / mitigation and issue identification / resolution.
  • Identify and resolve issues that impact program delivery, resources, timelines, metrics and financial performance and communicate these to senior management.
  • Serve as the operational lead for new business opportunities, including proposal development and bid defense teams.
  • Collaborate with business development colleagues to maximize new business opportunities with your assigned client accounts.
  • Travel approximately 30% both domestic and international.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or local equivalent, in life sciences, medicine or related discipline.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant industry experience
    • Minimum of four (4) years of program / project management experience
  • Working knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Direct experience in global, cross-functional project management environment.
  • Proven experience in people management / line management.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management and change management.
  • Ability to work closely with business unit leadership to understand client needs.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Executive presence with ability to confidently deliver complex presentations to senior management.
  • High level of integrity, which inspires and requires the highest professional and ethical standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership track record and effective inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire excellence within a team.
  • Ability to create an environment where employees have a sense of ownership that will lead to increases in productivity and efficiency.
