This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast paced, busy environment for a leading global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. The successful candidate will lead and supervise data systems personnel and participate as needed in pre-clinical /clinical bio-analytical data entry and related information systems (IS) and clerical activities to ensure that data collected is verified, analyzed and processed completely and accurately for use in client reports. Serve as a team member to perform daily activities, if necessary (short staffed, increased workload, out of hours request, etc.) Prioritize day to day responsibilities pertaining to all work related to the data systems group for team member.  To train and mentor staff to ensure optimal performance and efficiency in work flow.  Continuously monitor and revise data management processes as necessary to improve quality and efficiency and be responsible for ensuring scheduling and resource allocations in order to provide optimal service and to excel in meeting client needs.
 
Overview of the Role:
  • As a manager, the employee is expected to recognize the importance of and create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
  • Schedule and prioritize the tasks and responsibilities of the data systems group to ensure that study / client timelines and deadlines are met. Manage staffing level of the group to ensure this objective is met.
  • Proactive interaction with internal and external clients, troubleshooting client issues and providing updated schedules.
  • Ensure that data is entered accurately, verified and that all discrepancies are resolved within company, client and study guidelines.
  • Ensure that all tables are produced for client reports as per relevant procedures.
  • Act as a team member by cross verifying data, reviewing data analysis and reviewing all work to ensure all client material is correct and that deadlines are met.
  • Authorship or Review of Data Management related SOPs for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in meeting project goals within technical, timeline and budgetary constraints.
  • Lead, coordinate and facilitate data management activities pertaining to iBio and participate as a member of the iBio Steering Committee to prioritize scheduled fixes and enhancements to the system. 
  • Suggest process improvements to continually maximize the efficiency of the personnel, recommend solutions and implement action plans. Submit IT requests for all changes.
  • Collect and analyze metrics to ensure efficient usage of staff resources and group deliverables.
  • Participate in client or regulatory audits with the Quality Assurance department as required. Coordinate and communicate with management to address quality control questions or discrepancies.
  • Perform other duties reasonably related to the position as directed by manager/designee such as the coordination of vacation requests, tracking sick leave, metrics and appraisals.
  • All other duties as assigned by GDS Management.
Supervision:
  • Supervise and assign work for all staff in the Data Systems Group.
  • Mentor and train Data Systems staff.
Role Requirements / Skills / Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or the life sciences.  An alternative combination of experience, education, and training determined by management to be equivalent to the foregoing.
  • Minimum of two years in a supervisory role or three or more years as a Data Coordinator, Data Systems Administrator or the alike
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and Access).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to function independently.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and maintain a constructive approach when responding to internal customers.
  • Ability to identify process inefficiencies and proactively communicate to management strategies for improvement and development.
  • Professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GLP as applied to computer applications.
