Systems Infrastructure Engineer (Operations Engineer III) - Data Center Engineering

Working closely with the System Engineering, Storage, Collaborations and other Infrastructure and Platform Teams, IT Digital Operations deploys and executes on topology design, building out enterprise grade servers and solutions in our US, EU and APAC Datacenters. We deploy onto our global VMware infrastructure a variety of supported operating systems and technologies. The team also harnesses our global team covering APAC, EU and US time zones to provide enterprise level support on our datacenter infrastructure. We support 3rd level escalations and resolution of business impacting technical issues.

The Systems Infrastructure Engineer (Operations Engineer III) will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of enterprise servers, components, and related technologies, in support of core organizational functions.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and working procedures (WPs), training materials, and documentation adhering to industry best practices for Microsoft, Cisco UCS and VMware.

  • Roll out server builds across different datacenters via VMware templates following company standards and be able to perform server retirements and decommission. Familiarization with VMware NSX.

  • Assist with the development and creation of policies via Group Policy Management. Service accounts and group creation in Active Directory following company process, procedures and naming standards. Manage DNS and DHCP while being able to identify potential name resolution issues and provide solutions and recommendations.

  • Basic scripting using Powershell and familiarization with automation tools and framework.

  • Manage Service Profiles and Service Profile Templates on Cisco UCS B200 blades. Updating firmware and continuously providing insights on improvements, stability and reliability.

  • Continuously reviewing and monitoring server status via Solarwinds or any other monitoring application. Setup alerting and monitoring. Analyze and make recommendations.

  • Continuously review and update standards according to latest best practice across our multi cloud environment.

  • Continuously drive datacenter cost optimization, high availability, redundancy and resiliency.

  • Configure and maintain ADFS relying party trusts and be able to support and identify issues on SAML assertions via logs analysis and tracking.

  • Develop reporting mechanisms to easily demonstrate adherence to datacenter policies.

  • Work with the ServiceNow team to implement workflows as appropriate to facilitate automation wherever applicable.

  • Onboard and continuously improve upon existing cost and control dashboards and alerting (performance, usage, compliance, etc.)

  • Collaborate closely with Storage Team, Collaborations Team and other stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery of datacenter projects while maintaining compliance with standards.

 Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent relevant work experience; Industry standard certifications preferred.

  • A minimum of 5-6 years of related Systems Engineer experience in a technical position supporting cloud-based infrastructure in Datacenter Engineering, Active Directory, Domain Name Service, DHCP, Cisco UCS and VMware. 8+ years of related experience preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of various datacenter technologies mainly Cisco UCS and VMware virtualization.

  • Strong experience in datacenter and server optimization including, rightsizing and optimization.

  • General knowledge of server technologies, server architecture and server deployment

  • Due to the nature of this position, it may be required for the employee to travel. Therefore, dependent on the employee’s location, the employee may be required to possess a valid Driver’s license.

  • Experience in Pharma/Clinical Research organization will be an added advantage.
