Vice President, Icon University

Leads the ICON University team globally, leading a global Learning and Development Centre of Excellence in a regulated environment. This position will play an important role in the strategic growth of the company and is a key member of the HR Senior Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to provide leadership, management and oversight to a high-performing team while providing examples of how they helped transform the company’s learning organization. This individual will be a seasoned and motivational communicator who can inspire confidence in a culturally diverse global team, with global clients and fellow executives across the Company. This role is office based and open to applications from our key office hubs globally.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize, exemplify and adhere to ICON's values (Accountability & Delivery, Integrity, Partnership and Collaboration) which center on our commitment to our People, Clients and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of HR through active participation in the HR Senior Leadership Team.
  • Design and implementation of ICON University vision & strategy. Accountable for ICON’s learning strategy by delivering learning solutions that ensure teams are proficient and billable as efficiently as possible.
  • Accountable for leading 6 distinct functional groups across ICON spanning clinical, learning, technical, IT, Media design, Business Partnering and project management.
  • Full technical ownership of Tier 1 and Tier 2 enterprise system with LMS and also supporting Career Hub & Mav Simulation
  • Responsible for providing revenue generating services with direct provision of support to ICON customers
  • Develop constructive relationships with key executives and senior leaders across business
  • Responsible for effective management of global team budget including vendor management
  • Develop ICON University talent, through career development programmes and through the management of hi-potential team members
  • In conjunction with business leads, define and implement strategies that are in alignment with ICON's business strategy, culture, and objectives for learning and development including the following:
  • Conduct training needs analysis through the following:
  • Ongoing analysis of core competencies against learning and training provided for all positions.
  • Obtain feedback from business leads and staff regarding training/comprehension issues.
  • Develop plans for new business initiatives, processes and technologies. Determine appropriate learning/knowledge transfer delivery methods and timing. Choose appropriate learning partners as needed.
  • Work with implementation teams with regard to training roles in change management.

Supervision

  • Leadership of the overall ICON University global team – circa 120 professionals across Client & Quality, Learning Operations, Digital Production, Learning Solutions and Professional Development
  • Direct leadership of ICON U leadership team.
  • Carrying out all relevant line management responsibilities including performance reviews, goal setting, development plans and annual compensation processes within budget and agreed parameters
  • Leading and managing across the matrix organization by empowering and coaching them to deliver their key objectives.
  • Drive a clear talent management strategy to achieve successor ready leadership within the group.

Experience

  • Experience of operating in a global organization at a senior HR leadership level
  • Experience working across multiple geographies, acknowledging the complexities of different markets
  • Experience leading complex change and engagement programmes
  • Experience building and delivering a Learning strategy leveraging multi-disciplinary teams

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Executive experience in the life science industry, with strong a preference for senior leadership experience leading large organizations.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience leading the Corporate Training function in a regulated life science organization.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage all aspects of corporate training with a high level of demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Executive-level problem solving and analytical skills combined with impeccable business judgment and ability to communicate with highly scientific client management teams.
  • Possesses executive presence. Capable of establishing immediate credibility with business partners within the company, able to build consensus and achieve goals.
  • Must be able to recruit and develop leadership and attract top talent to the organization in order build a succession plan.
  • Able to work efficiently in a team oriented setting; can drive ideas and plans across an organization through influence as well as authority.
  • Innovative approach to solving problems while considering implications of decisions made.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Ability to formulate a functional strategy, influence for buy in and execute for success
  • Research and assess emerging best practices in training and technology to be utilized within ICON.
